General radio scanning

i've lost the handbook for my car and my radio will only scan automatically to specific stations, how do i change this to manual so i can scan in my itrip?

Just press the down or up arrow rather than the across, may take you ages, so auto scan and find a station near it and then muck about with the up or down arrows
