I think only 1 in 10 (maybe even less) of the 500's built are RHD...

Type is easily identified by the pollen filter.
If the cover is push on it’s the early type prone to failure.
If it’s held on by 2 x 5.5mm screws it’s the later type that doesn’t suffer

Just my luck! My car's a 10/2012 build so I don't know whether it's likely to fail or not!

If it's a late November 2012 build date it's probably the later spec


Kate November seems to be around the charge the later specs parts presumably they have a yearly maitance shutdown it some of the factors around that time of year

Shame they didn't do something about the RHD pollen filter access at the same time...

Your not wrong it’s a real pain in the ass trying to get a new filter in! I’m happy though my filter casing has the 2 screws

Thanks for the information but my car's October built. Nonetheless there appear to be two small hex screws on the pollen cover.

Mine was built at the end of 2011 I forget the month but 2 screws … regardless gives me a little extra piece of mind

Obviously I haven't dusted under here for a while - very slack! Is this what it's supposed to look like? I'm assuming the two silver screws are those in question. The lower one has the plastic cut away which I reckon my mechanic did for access when he replaced the filter a couple of years ago. The old filter was in there from new (6 years) and looked almost unused.

Mines different to yours and at present I’ve only one screw in mine looks like I have even less access than yours unless it’s just the pic
