Ok guys here goes.

I have sorted out the exterior of my car and would now like to start on the engine. I am really looking for modifications to increase power and speed and I am not interested in getting the car to sound like a chav-mobile.

So any initial ideas would be great.

What is the most cost effective method of increasing BHP without damaging either the car or my wallet.

It is only a 1.2 mia (Why didnt you buy a quicker car I hear you ask, well f**king insurance is the answer)

Any replies would be gladly accepted, I hope to be able to contribute to this forum to the best of my ability so Hi guys and thanks in advance :worship: .

Cheers Jon

gsr induction kit,
angel tuning will remap the engine aswell for about 200 quid and will increase torque by 7lb ft and 7bhp but haven't seen any threads on here before hearing about people doing this.

Lmao.... insurance for modifications....? Reminds me of a couple of other threads lol!!

check how much insurance will go up with the mods before buying them

Thanks for the heads up, I have all ready checked and as long as we are not talking sticking turbo's under the bonnet things seem to be sensibly priced.

Nitrous, bang for buck you can't beat it.

An engine with components not up to the stress imposed by the use of nitrous can experience major engine damage, such as cracked or destroyed pistons, connecting rods, or crankshafts. I am not really up for shelling out for a new engine, also the initial installation costs and maintenance of such a system would be well into the thousands, for that I might as well just buy a quicker car and take the insurance hit.

If your joking however have you ever heard of anyone fitting NOS to a punto?! Sounds like a laugh. :yum:

does anyone know if the mk2 8v active sports exhaust gives the engine more power than the normal exhuast? ive just got myself an active sport (upgraded from a base model 1.2 8v) and it feels as if it has slightly more power and sounds awesome (y)

hope not, they told me it was standard when i bought it. . . it doesn't have a logo on or anything. . . if its some sort or performance exhaust how would i know because i would need to inform the insurance company

the colour or the metal its made of, although csc exhausts are mild steel so would look like a standard exhaust

Unleash the beast

Even for a small engine the punto has some stonking power.
I'v got a W reg 1.2 8v and had a custom made forced air induction kit, and it truly is one of a kind, and it only cost me the price of a k&n air filter.

I got a bit of 70mm alu tubing from ebay and had it bent to shape at my local garage by a profesional for £3 !!!! Drilled the holes for the air tube (ripspeed 8mm internal cilicone) and had a return pipe fitted (used from a civic type r) to create a vent and return pipe.

Getting the throttle boddy rebored around the neck helps too, cheep as chips too, had mine done to 65mm.

Ebay's a great place to pick up stuff, got a magnex powerflow back box for £20 including delivery.

Hope this helps.

NOS will cost you around £300 on ebay for a reputable kit. its not that hard to fit, and as long as its fitted correctly, and the power boost isnt too extreme, it will not harm the engine at all (might wear the clutch faster, davethetrike s clutch was almost done after 10,000 miles with him using a 50bhp shot (was using 25bhp shot after that with no problems)

how do i know? i have one, and thats what it cost me to buy and fill up (small shot applications are supposed to last a long time without filling up, too)

btw, phoenix, thats the nicest induction kit i have seen apart from the GSR! welcome to the forum
