Hi there im new here and i was wondering im off to go pick up my punto gt on friday what are the best mods it had a baileys dumpvalve dropped 60 mm all round magnex dtm exhaust system. what about chipping it i want to push about 170 bhp.
what can one say 170bhp in a punto seems an awful lot
i would be looking at strut brace
uprated antiroll bars
seem welded strut tops
better seats
freds on tyres big time
sensible progressive rate springs all round
top rate shockers
uprated radiator
full geometry check including full check of all suspension components for wear/tear
i would consider uprated steering rack ends to cope with todays roads
i would be wetting myself for the insurance quote and put that holiday to bognor on hold too for a while
of course if this is just going to be a track car then gutting it to nothing certainly saves lots and lots of weight so you can save money on some power upgrades
did i mention uprated suspension joints alround?
not the best with engines but from what ive learnt from others these things might give you a decent gain:
-straight through decat exhaust system i.e. supersprint, miltek whoever others on the thread will know which is best
-gsr induction kit
-full ecu remap
-gutt the whole car leaving the front seats and put a false floor in
possibly an aftermarket turbo?
dunno if this helps just a couple things i know can give gains
You cant re-map the GT engine as such. To get around 170BHP you will need to fit a SEB Chip, Replace the standard boost controller, and a decent free flowing exhaust. You will then see figures of around 160-170 BHP.
Don't want to sound negative, but on an old GT Punto, I'd give the engine a good health check before anything else. Most of these will have been abused & thrashed, even half decent ones that have been looked after will be suspect by now. Check the exhaust manifold is not cracked either.
