Hi i have a 2001 seicento sporting have read a few notes on here saying thats its possible to put a punto 1.2 75 engine in a seicento would like to know how hard this is too do and is theer any particular 75 engine as in year etc that only fits ,plus if there is anyone that cabn do this what would you charge thanks

theres alreday a load of previous threads on this, did u not have a look over them?

I have a 1999 900cc what would be the right engine for that i have been told it has to be a punto engine form 97-99 otherwise different looms ect but dunno which engine is it the 65 or 75 alls i want is best performance and no agro getting the thing in can any 1 sugesst anything

Billy

Yes i too alrady looked through but nothing too clear i dont want to just go to the scrap yard ask for a punto 75 engine then relise theer are only certain years or codes that fit a 2001 seicento 1.1 sporting

Hi, sorry to jump in on your thread ezepc,

I have a 2000 w seicento abarth, whicj I gather is SPI, meaning the simplest conversion would be the punto 60 spi engine correct?

Rob
2000 was the change over year. if you have square airbox its SPI if you have round airbox its MPI

899cc engine is completely different. so you will ned practically everything including engine mounts.. dont bother buy a sporting as a better base. and use FAQ as previously linked

spi- punto 60 engine

mpi- punto 75 engine

there pretty much the easy ones

i agree with droneners the only diffrence with the codes is that some older models dont have power steering (as far as i no) but the engines are the same

hi

ok i have just fitted a 75 engine in a 2001 sei mpi and its not easy and its a pain to sort the ecu out as the 75 ecu is totally different to the sei mk2 so if you are really looking into doing a 1242 swap into your sei do a 16v swap as it is actually easier in the mk2 due to ecu

the problem stems from the electic power steering which is run from the sei mk2 ecu but the engine map (for the 1108) doesn't run the 75 engine very well plus due to the way the sei mk2 inlet is wired up it all needs lenghening to fit the 75 inlet and tb, you could get around this by fitting the 1108 inlet to the 75 head but they dont mate up very well and causes running issues so then you will end up fitting the 1108 head to the 75 block and then running it of the sei ecu but it will then pull really badly over 4k rpm at which point you will be sick of it and pull it out and fit a 16v

save yourself the time and expense and just fit a 16v to start with and fit a mk2 punto ecu or get the sei ecu re-mapped

so you know i have spent the last 6 months trying to get a 75 engine to work in a sei mk2 mpi and we have finally given up and are now going to fit a 16v lol

is the punto m2 ecu's a straight swap?
or is there any wiring issues?

Punto 75 ECU plugs directly at the spi loom. You only have to replace the single injector connector with 4 connectors (in parralel) for the P75 injectors.

If you get an early non coded P75 ECU, you can just start up and go. Otherwise you will have to change locks and keys (to have a fully funcional immo), or tie together a P75 key with the immo antenna, somewhere under the dash and continue to use your regural keys.

P.S. Fuel pump will also need to be replaced on an spi Sei, with a 3bar one (P75 will do). I use a Fiat coupe one.
