Yup, just undo the 8mm bolt that hold the reverse cable into the selector tower and remove the cable.

I tie wrapped the cable out the way, just in case I needed it, which I did.

Make sure you seal the hole where the cable comes out from.

Thanks, thats something for tomorw then. Ill just do something with the cover thats on it now jest remove the bit on the end of the cable to seal it I think. I very much doubt Ill use it again as I wont be fitting a 6 speed or anything of the like. And if I do need it, Ill probably want something els from the scrappies anyway.

I've got something to show you all tomorow as well (cant find the phone cable atm, and im tired) Watch this space ;)...

Thanks

Got it in one! :D

One Sparco roll cage!

Needs a re paint etc but otherwise im pretty happy with it. Looks a better cage than the OMP one with the extra bars and diagonals etc.

Had a go at removing the reverse inhibator cable just now aswell and it seams if you remove it, you can go straight to reverse, but you lose 5th. Ah well, give something els a try.

Thanks

Hmm. Guess Ill have to look into that.

BTW Rallycinq, you have the sparco cage if I remember correctly? How wdoes the front bolt onto the main hoop? Is it like a sleve over the front and rear tubing and bolts through them?

Thanks

Yeah the front half slots into the rear half, mine has four bolts running through each side to keep them together. Whilst the cage is out, weld a horizontal bar between the two rear legs to wrap your harnesses around.

Have any of you got a picture of how it goes? Did'nt get anything like that with it and they dont slot right into each other as there obviously the same size.

Yeah im gona get a harness bar welded in before it goes in, its not going in till after the MOT anyway.

Thanks Alot

Right had a good day on the car today. Both bottom arms are back on the car, both brand new (y). Anti roll bar fitted, one drive shaft, hub, strut (be it original one as havent had time to change the springs over and not shure how to hold the top mount still) and todays delivery, Uno Turbo Brakes :D. Also painted the other hub ready to go back on when I next have time, going to Aberystwyth tomorow to compete on the Ystwyth Road Rally in the Sweet Lamb Complex :D.

Heres a few pics from today:

Thanks

Right havnt had any time on the car scince the last update, the other half and all that. Had a couple of houers on the car tonight and reconected the ECU and coresponding looms, sprayed the other hub black, and removed the rear wiper and pipes.

Haveing a few problems though. First of all as said by a few members on here, I could just remove the reverse inhibitor and wouldnt need the lift up thingy to get reverse. But as I said before, when I did this I could not select 5th. I still havnt found a way to get round this, anybody got any ideas why this is? Mabye if i shop the bottom bit off the inhibitor it would help? As it seams there is a little notch on the upper part that goes into the box.

Second thing is that when I put it into 2nd now the stick is basicly in the passanger seat, is this because I've shortend the leaver by about 3"?

Ummm can't think of any other problems to bother you with lol

Any help greatly appreciated (sp) as I've just realised I've about 2 weeks to get the car basicly ready for the rally.

Thanks alot (y)

The cables that come from gear lever need to be secured in the right place on the bellhousing. I have seen a few cars with one of the brackets missing so the outer cable moves rather than just the inner cable.

Hmm... I'm pretty shure there both secure as I put new bolts on the brackets, and remember putting those clip type things back on, but one might of come loose, Ill have a check tomorow.

Just remembered, when I move the seletors on the top of the box by hand I still can't get it to where 5th should be, and I can with the inhibitor in.

Thanks

Today made quite a bit of progress, refitted the exhaust, up to the back box, found out it has a couple of nice holes in it so new one hopefully on the way soon. All the water pipes back on, driver side suspension (altho that was yesterday), fitted more of the loom, and got it back on its wheels for the fisrt time in dont know how long.

Then put the bonnet, bumper and spot back on because I was starting to forget how it looked

Then tonight, as it was out of the garage and I could actualy open the door properly I took the front seats out, and set about trial fiting the rear half of the cage in. It looks great :D

Think im finaly makeing some progress! Tomorow will be more of the same, strip whats left of the interior, make the switch panel, oil in the gear box, finish wiring the battery up, set the camber properly, fit the hub nuts properly, mabye even start it! Not a lot realy....

Thanks
