Pass will het John to post all this evening. We actually sorted out the final detail of the route and roads over the weekend. As some of the roads we were unsure of. Was thinking the same as you Craig. Full winter kit indeed

Put Birling Gap into google Maps, you cannot miss it !!!!! well you can but you might do the following:

a) drop like a stone
b) go splat onto the pebbles beneath
c) get wet if the tide comes in

If it's easier for you, zoom down the A27 to Middle Farm (several miles past the turning for Newhaven and I can meet you there and lead you through

looks easy enought fro me trev, google says m23, a23 then drop off down just past berwick through east dean and voila. says about 2 hrs so it'll be an early morning for me and some red bull too.

The route is . . .

Meet at Cafe @ Birling Gap, then drive to The Smuggler, Pett Level Rd, Pett Level, Hastings, East Sussex, TN35 4EH. . . Carvery and food finish @ 3pm. If people can indicate whether they'll be eating I'll see about reserving table/area.

Planned route - Birling Gap, Beachy Head, Eastbourne, all along the coast. Little bit of dual carrigeway and roundabouts Unless a someone local know's a cheeky short cut or two. Back along the coast again Normans Bay, Cooden, Bexhill-On-Sea, Hastings.

Obviously, being everyones meet, we are welcome to variations on the route. Some of you may know the area better than us - and be able to lead the Cruze away from the dual carrige way between Eastbourne (Sovereign Park end) and roundaboout near Normans Bay

I live on the A272, I'll be zipping down the backroads to Lewes, then, depending on river conditions, either going through Newhaven or the back way through Alfriston (the river may be iffy here ).

Then when I get to Exceat Bridge, I'll go to East Dean and onto Birling Gap.

There is a car park at the bottom of where the light house is. It is a 5 minute drive from where we are all meeting. Big steep hill up to the lighthouse. We was up that way last week and they are doing more work to it laying down some sort of false road up to the lighthouse. There was talk of it being sold and turned in to a B&B
