Hi all,

we have one of the few branches in the world for this company called PP-Performance which is well known in germany and mercedes AMG tuners.

I met him yesterday because they said they can do my 1.4 lounge remap which would add extra 25hp!!!! on the website it says only 10hp. This is not a concern because he will do a dyno run and it only costs around !!!

The website is in german PPPerformance.de

-Has anyone heard of this company, is it any good?

-Second question, im planning to fit an exhaust backbox (thinking about ragazzon dual exit, still confused) i've heard that you have to finish all the tuning parts you want to add then do the remap for closure? Does this sound right?

-Do you recommend remaps for the ECU on the 1.4 (I need a push lool):D

A remap on a NA engine is not going to give you 25% more power.
To get your car to feel and go quicker I would get some lighter wheels and strip the car...take out the spare wheel and rear seats if you don't need them.

Agreed - you'd a head/cams/compression ratio job plus the remap to achieve anything like another 25HP.

Idle thought - it is the season to be idle - is it feasible to add, say, 10-15% to the capacity of the 1.4 FIRE engine or is it at the limit?

So its like 10hp as the website shows i think thats more plausible  when he said 25 extra hp, i wanted to hug him but resisted it lol

Any idea about the other inquiries in the OP?

You mean increase the cubic capacity? Can't see it being on. Fire rings must be close to maximum, ruling out a rebore, and it's already a very long stroke engine.

They regularly give 110bhp when stuffed into Centos, with nothing more than a bigger TB, better exhaust and manifold and an aftermarket ECU (which must equate to a remap), but are said to tend to throw rods at 140bhp+, which is probably why no-one is offering cheap 500 Abarth alikes. The T Jet engine is fairly extensively reworked.

Personally I wouldn't be a fan of remapping a NA engine without first doing something to the engine first or at least changing to a performance manifold (& not just a cat back performance exhaust).
The 1.4 engine was designed to run on 95 octane fuel if you were to run it on 98 premium petrol a remap could increase the bhp but more in the order of c.5bhp (there was a recent thread on a 500 from SA which reported getting a lot more).

Also increasing the compression ratio from the factory 10.8:1 would necessitate higher octane fuel. This could be done by getting the head polished & ported & skimmed. Got the impression that the P&P on the 16V doesn't leave much for improvement so it hardly warrants getting a head skim done in the first place. That said, according to LAD Motorsport the increase in compression ratio contributed significantly to the claimed 25bhp increase over the standard 100HP. Getting an extra 25bhp will cost you around £2K in modifications so €300 for 5bhp might be justifiable.

extra 25bhp would be whats offered on the 135 tjet is it not? to bring it upto 160?
Could the person on the phone have gotten confused and thought the engine was the tjet?
