Hi there,

My name is Jon, 20, and currently a mini one owner. However ever since i had my mini 2 years ago i really fancied a 500, at the time however, the mini just seemed a better price (second hand) for what you got.

Moving on now... Hopefully in the near future I will be selling my mini and getting a 500 as the scales have tipped and I have fell in love with them.

Luckily my girlfriend's, mum's best friend has one for sale at a very good price. She has it at this low price for a quick sale as she needs the cash. She acquired it from very ill family to cut a long story short.

Anyway, today I have received some pictures of the 500, which is currently sat in a garage, dirty, and not really being used.

I only have a small knowledge of 500s at the moment but from these few pictures I can spot the following options which aren't standard, and I was wondering if anyone else can see more that I haven't spotted. Any help would be lovely, and I look forward to being a bigger part of this community.

Car is an 08 1.2 sport, colour either bossa nova or funk?

At the moment, all I can spot non-standard is:
-Chequered roof
-Sport alloys
-Full leather interior
-Chrome front bumper

Thanks.

Looks good!!

A bit if trim missing from the door near the wing mirror area....

I had a sport and them wheels are/where standerd.

It's got chrome on front bumber but none on the back?? That shouldn't be!!

There is a optional gear knob on there to.

What is the milage???

Ah yeah good spot, meant to be a black bit of trim? Could be bought from elsewhere?

Are they the normal sport or 2 tone, my untrained eye can't tell with the dirt on them.

Yes I thought that about the chrome? Weird... accident possibly or something?

Good spot on the gear knob, any idea from the bad pictures if it's a proper fiat accessory or aftermarket?

20k, how come?

Do i see chrome on the back bumper only the reflection of the white garage door making it look white???

Oh and mileage will make a difference to value.

Looks like a 1.2 Sport (standard sport wheels, rear spoiler, etc) with some extra stickers on the roof :)

As a guide for pricing I looked at a 1.2 Sport yesterday, with what looks like pretty similar spec (leather, USB port, etc) on a 59 plate with 26k and the Fiat dealership wanted £8,000. I'd guess going private I'd expect at least £500 off that price.. and then adjust for age / mileage accordingly.

How much are they asking?

Welcome to the Forum Jon.(y)
It is great to see the inputs from the 'new arrivals' namely Chicaneuk, Twocokes & Puntostar and since they are activately closing out deals at the moment they are 'closer to the ground' on prices.
You are in the enviable position of having the car you want - all you have to do is sell your car. :)
JR's parkers URL is a great starting point and it's probably worthwhile paying the subscription to get the low down on how much the extras are worth.
On the extras on the car in the garage...
It's BNW - Bosss Nova White.
Alloys - looks like the 2 tone to me. They're different & nice - hopefully that will be in good 'nick'. 15s give the best ride.
Leather gear knob is an upgrade as previously pointed out.
Re-instating the standard white trim on the front bumper or putting a chrome strip on the back bumper is no big deal (thread on the FF).
Black Leather - nice extra to get which you wouldn't have to pay for.(y)

I get the impression that you have the earlier MINI with the 1.6 litre engine so this 1.2 Sport that you are looking at will be cheaper to run.

Best of luck on the 'swap over'.

They are asking for £6000. Which seems pretty good to me.

Yeah selling the mini is going to be the main thing right now.

Twocokes I think you might be right about the chrome on the back bumper, without having the chance to go and see the car myself yet I can't say.

Is there anyway to tell from the pictures if it has the upgraded stereo or not?

I guess I'm selling it partially for better running costs, and partially for something different. I did the classic "is it too girly of a car for me?" on the 500 until I realised I didn't care either way.

Tbh I don't think they're the two tone alloys, they don't look dark enough IMHO.

The chrome strip on the rear bumper can be sorted :) But I would of course check that there isn't some bad damage behind there :)

£6K for a 08 1.2 sport with 20k mileage - IMHO that is a steal. I've been getting a good idea of prices for the last couple of months across the range with various specs and I would expect to pay at least £7k for that.

What are you waiting for!?

...and if people think it's too girly I just remind them of this story. Just goes to show you can't buy class... ;)

I'm sorry, but using a celebrity as evidence doesn't really work :)

All I'm waiting for is to sell my mini. Want to put it on auto trader today but the rain isn't letting me clean it

£6k sound like a fair price then?

Will have some more and hopefully better pictures today, I still can't really tell if it's bossa nova or funk? Hoping funk though.

I would imagine the Beckhams got paid more than you'd pay for a brand new one to drive it though. Annoyingly no one has come to me with a similar offer yet (n)

edit: Dash from the picture doesn't look plain white?

Is there a reason why you can't go and have a proper look at it rather than scrutinising the photos? Having a real look will answer your questions (y)

P.S. I'm with the others - it's BNW, the lighting on the inside pics is just bad.

It is by my girlfriend's house which is about an hour and a half drive. So being a student on a budget, I'm trying to time visiting her in a few days, with going to see the car.

Damn was hoping it was funk, but nevertheless, BNV is my second favourite colour, can't have everything!

Got a few more pictures as you can see below. One question though, I can't see an air con button, however I thought all sports were fitted with it as standard?

Possibly a newb question to which you will all roll your eyes, but I guess we were all there one day...

The air con turns on by pushing the fan control in :) In all honest I would just go and check the car. I'd ask whether it's the front or back that's been involved in an accident and have a look at the repairs. That will decide whether it's a 6k bargain or a 6k ripoff :)

Ah so it was a proper newb question in that case. What are the 3 empty buttons for them? Sport, esp,..?

I will go have a look at it, just like to make sure I know what I'm looking for first.

They don't necessarily have any function tbh. You can have ASR (Traction control), start&Stop and the rear window demister which all cars have. I don't think there are actually 4 functions which those buttons can control.

The sport button (on a 1.4, only the 1.4 has a sport button) is in place of the city button which your car will have.

One thing I would suggest that you read is my Fiat 500 guide. Search and you shall find :)

The feedback on Maxi's guide is that it is very useful and a worthwhile read.
Looking at the better pictures it is definitely...
Bossa Nova White (I have the Funk and it is definitely not that colour)
It does have the chrome inserts on Front & Back so this was done after the car was 'delivered' since the Chrome pack normally includes Chrome surround on the windows which you haven't got.
You do not have the ASC - blank button.
Interscope. Unlikely but if you have the work interscope is on the tweeters left & right beside the dash - then you have it.
Wheels - bi-colour - still unsure. Picture below is from a recent thread on 'Chipped Alloy' - but Maxi is probably correct that it's the standard Sport wheel - cheaper to refurbish.

Example of a Funk white (not mine)
