Please, please help.

I live in Birmingham and i have recently brought a punto grande 09 plate from a 2nd hand car dealer. This was due to a new job involving travel and my car breaking down. I could only afford a cheap runner so i brought it.

After 15 miles the clutch went i took it in garage seperate to where i brought it ( trust issues and threatening behaviour) i had the clutch replaced but the car still drove like a tank.

Battery light was on cinstantly and car was jerky, i thought this may be new clutch but having looked on here numerous times it appears the opinion is blue and bloody me. I noticed a wire behind stereo and chased it back to the cigarette lifhter removed that wire and the battery light went dimmer car behaving better not as jerky.

I have removed the blue and me and now the mileage us flashing i want to remove it completely.but need a proxy alignment it says on here. I dont have the software and dont intend to diy ( trust issues )

Is there anyone in Birmingham that will do this for me?

Or do i have it repaired - not interested in any features if it?

Take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it

Trading standards and your rights are important in dealing with the original seller
However, if he has a warranty agreement, even for the first 30 days, it may state that you can take it to any (for example AA,RAC,etc) approved garage
No unfortunately i went back to him re clutch and he wasnt interested. Whilst i appreciate i have rights, right now i just need a proxy alignment

Hey Chris, lovely avatar.

For future reference you're better off posting such a request in the proxy alignment forum. That way you reach out to everyone, not just folk with Grande Puntos.

Performing a proxy alignment is not as scary as you might think. You just need to find someone local to you that has the MultiECUScan (MES) software and cables. Alternatively, you can buy the software and decent cables for around £130 all in, a worthwhile investment if you intend to keep the GP for a while. If you fancy buying it, my advice is steer clear of the cheap Chinese cables. I bought mine from Gendan and it works beautifully.

If it's a one-off and you'd rather someone else do it for you then your best bet is to consult the MultiECUScan register and search for folk near Brum. Here are some links to save you time:

Full MES register -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/categories/multiecuscan-register.4/
Someone in the West Midlands -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/multiecuscan-west-midlands-uk.153/
Someone in Donington Park -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/midlands-full-vesion.93/
Someone in Coventry -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/coventry-m6-junc-3.80/
Someone in Wolverhampton -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/junction-10-of-the-m6.75/
Someone in Redditch who works in Coventry -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/worcestershire.67/
Someone in South Derbyshire -> https://www.fiatforum.com/directory/south-derbyshire-full-version.90/

You can submit an enquiry the individual's page. Check that they have a fully registered copy of MES and all 5 cables.

If you find someone then he/she may want a few quid for their troubles but it'll be a damn sight cheaper than going to Fiat. As the person is likely to be a Fiat enthusiast you'll also get a friendlier service and perhaps the opportunity to run through all your car's parameters before executing the Proxy Alignment so everything is to your liking.

Hope that helps.
