Technical Help Please :-) Twanging noise when steering

Hello,

I drove over a delightful little pothole this morning and felt a right bump underneath. 2008 Fiat Punto Grande - low mileage and otherwise in great condition. Now there's a loud twanging sound when I steer. I've arrived at work and can nip the car round to the local garage if needs be, but wondered what the problem might be. Yup, if you're not familiar with cars then take it round to a garage. From your description this is most likely to be either a broken spring or a seized strut top mount. If you're going to drive it then take it easy as, if it's a broken spring, there's a chance it may become dislodged and puncture the tyre. Just go easy and be prepared to stop quickly. Might be something else I suppose, but I wouldn't be driving it very far without getting it checked out. Good luck.

Initial inspection says it's a broken spring. They are going to fix this tomorrow. Fingers crossed there won't be any unexpected surprises. Not at this time of year!

These things always happen at the most inconvenient time. Some sort of variation of "Murphy's law"?
