General Picking up today!

Have fun. Discovered my T/A reached the dealers yesterday and on for a Tuesday pick up. Enjoy!

Congratulation Franda. I m sure you will have so much later =)

Yes, great, but scary too!
Came back through the forest to avoid jam at Ringwood, and to try a more interesting road. The dualogic takes a bit of getting used to after the 2.5tdi auto I had before, but getting the hang of it.
And achieved average (on trip computer) of 45.4 mpg, don't think that's at all bad for first drive out...on twisty roads and lots of slowing for ponies!

Hi, congratulations on your new car, hopefully you can make the meet on 21st August? See events page.

Your 500 sounds great.

I look forward to seeing the pics, though sadly I can't make the meet.

Definitely a good day to avoid the A31.

Enjoy your new car. Apparently our 1.2 Lounge is now at state 20 so it has been built. It should be ready to collect next month, over a month early from the initial estimate. Unfortunately we are not ready quite yet as we are moving house so will leave it until September for collection. I'm hoping we can get it on a 11 plate as we prefer that for several reasons.

To be honest it seems daft not wanting the latest reg, as it will be worth more when you come to sell it on and you could always stick an 11 reg private plate on it. But if you really want it on an 11 reg just ask the dealer if they get it on or before the 31st august if they could register it for you.

I raised this on here before - see https://www.fiatforum.com/500/276328-new-61-plate.html Sticking a private 11 plate or whatever on is an option, but won't that cost more money upfront?

Tbh leaving a car for 6 weeks just to get a different plate is moronic. Far better to enjoy the car for those 6 weeks......

I'm thinking about getting the cheapest old style reg [I am happy with] that I can get as I'm not keen on the whole number 61 thing - but I'm just weird :D I believe that you buy it and give the dealer the details and they do the rest - a new car includes the first registration doesn't it? Surely it's no different using a "new" plate that you've bought and isn't already attached to another vehicle than them registering it with one of their 61 plate numbers?

I'm half hoping that my car turns up sooner rather than later too, although it does strike me as a bit daft to collect it 1 week before the new plates, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I've no idea what stage my order is at, the dealer won't tell me!

Your moronic for not reading what i was replying too.

They said they was moving so they were leaving it until september to pick it up but didnt want a 61 plate and wanted an 11 plate.

So they wouldn't be driving around in it anyway would they and if youd of read that bit...

Me too! I think one of the reasons I don't want a 61 plate is to stop the neighbours thinking that we have a brand new car.

That's surprising. My dealer has been phoning each week with updates and yesterday I had an email telling me that our car has been built. So far my dealer has been excellent.

Jeez don't have a cow, I didn't read the post fully. Big whoop.

Well, any new car I've bought has usually been just close enough to wait for a new reg, but i just want to get out and use it, so have never been all that bothered. I have a private reg retained, just a cheapie and will put that on soon.
Have been driving quite a bit, air con switched on, driving it to try out and have fun, and still getting 46mpg with only 150 miles on the clock, so am delighted with that, when I returne to my more leisurely (some might say slow) style I'm sure that will improve. Coming from a Bongo camper doing 25mpg on a good day, and my 4x4 panda which does 45 when driven carefully, I am more than happy.
And the best bit? The saving on road tax, I know it's not much in the scheme of things, but it's just after so many years of paying tax for everything, even down to a tax on buying a roof over your head, that I feel I'm somehow poking a stick at the powers that be... Crazy I know....
