So describe what you are proposing as I am still interested

Iain

I am initially considering making the back box
I will get around to the full system if there is enough interest.

Exhausts for the 500 seem to be a bit expensive in the market currently and some or a bit OTT.
The OEM system complies to sound regulations which are very rigid.

I am prototyping a 304 grade stainless straight-through silencer
with probably an 80mm finisher, so not too leery and not too loud. Prototyping will determine the sound volume.
So I need somebody to go for the first prototype and be part of the process.

All TT exhausts are individually numbered and these 2 will be TT Mk500 #0 and #00

Target price is below £200 but from my experience of MGF/TF systems prototypes are usually worth more.

i think you need to offer cat back system, there is a dirty great silencer in the centre section

First things first Rob, we might need that silencer.

With a straight-through back box I have to be careful not to design a system which is too loud. Beefy sounding is what we are after.

With a small hatchback there is a danger that you will hear a lot of the exhaust inside the car, so I have to get the volume right.

A cat back system would also cost a fair bit more.

Supersprint system dispensed with it (y)

You cannot describe it as a performance exhaust if it isn't cat-back IMO, and there is little point marrying a nice 304 stainless back box to a mild steel centre section that will fail within a few years

Do it properly or not at all is my opinion

I will get to do the centre section if the rear box is popular. No point ordering 50 to have them filling my garage.

When I get the prototypes made I will post a new thread with the pics.
Remember this a hobby of mine I am a management consultant as a job.

hi
i have a twin straight-through box set up,splitting up to both sides of the rear bumper.its not loud and gives a nice sound the 2 boxes fit nice in the tunnel area to
cheers paul

I have a prototype coming this week which I will develop further and post pics.

It is for the back box to start with and we'll work our way forward from there.

Stainless
Straight-through so subdued at low revs getting sportier as the revs increase.
Subtle finisher
304 stainless steel so it'll last forever
Mandril bends for maximum gasflow.

Usually I get 2 prototypes made one for sound testing and one for photographs etc.

If you look at the Supersprint site, the part numbers are the same for the Panda 100HP and 1.4 16-valve 500s till you get to the back box, where there are several options but none of the numbers are common. Have to say they look well engineered.

Interesting.
If they are all the same part it means that I could extend the product to Panda.

And yes, they should be well made at those prices! Also it isnt too clear whether the tail and centre sections are made of Stainless or not. Mine will be made of 304 grade Stainless.

My Manufacturer is now looking at the FIAT 500 1.2 and 1.4 rear box to produce prototypes.

Anybody interested let me know

Stainless steel
mandril bends
Bigger sound

there are already several manufacturers/companies making/selling exhausts for Fiat 500 including Supersprint Janspeed and Nuova500Shop

From the enquiries that I have made the best pound for bhp is to change the manifold on the 1.4 for a performance one.

I did see something about re-locating the CAT further down the exhaust (it is quite close to the manifold as I discovered when putting some ceramic tape around it). I'd imagine that some of the track guys have removed the CAT with some tickering with the ECU/lamba. Nouva ? did mention that changing to a performance exhaust was hit & miss wth some cars giving a faulty dash light.

Given the no. of Abart exhausts that are coming up on ebay can these be modified to fit the 1.4 without effecting the performance ?

manicat is very restrictive and belongs in the bin, but don't run without a cat, get a pukka sport cat (y)

I have a sample rear box and will send this to my manufacturer for production development.
It will be very shiny mirror polished stainless and look not too dissimilar to the original with a trapesoidal shape and a big oval finisher

Going to be awesome
