So this evening I have been chatting to some of the chaps at www.panda4x4.info the Panda 4x4 off road club Italia and we have been discussing an international meet of Pandas. Now it would involve road tripping over to Italy obviously which could ofcourse be worryingly problematic as far as language barriers epecially are concerned, I am not going to mention vehicle reliability at all as that will not be an issue

Now quite a few of them do speak fantastic English and I thought well it'd be a fantastic oportunity for an amazing drive aswell as the scope for visiting many scrap yards. :)

I am just putting some feelers out at the moment really to see what people think on the idea? Has anything like this been discussed before on the forum? I am prepared to the work/research/organisation as I'm confident that my contacts on the Italian side are genuine but I may need help along the way.

So let me know what we all think, it would probably be fairly expensive but it would be one hell of a ride out!

Sounds great, you can count us in (y)

Any idea at this point when?

No idea when at all, I think it would be a good idea to earn some money for a charity off it aswell.

Thanks dombooth for that link that's just what I need to get started with ideas - we may have to tag along but I'll see what the chaps at the other end suggest, they are well up for us going over there!

I am seriously going to look into doing this now!

Italy???... Pah.. Try a trip in a £250 eBay 1990 micra to Timbuktu. Across the Sahara. Old news to others on here. Plenty off off road and not one breakdown :)

Seriously, sounds like a great trip. We would be up for it if it fits in with work. No off roading for us though as we would be in Apple. Good at being a passenger though!

Sounds amazing, you will of course have to take a massive support lorry with you (empty on the way over but full of scrap yard goodies on the way back) just in case ;) I have a few Italian friends who may be able to help with translations/ suggestions etc if you need help (y)

Ok great guys looks like it will be a team effort, John you have to come simple as! :) we will get you there mate.

Me and our lass were discussing it last night (the trip!) and for us it's looking like spring 2015. I know it's many moons away but simply for the children aspect as we have a two year old and a lil baby.

I like the idea of a support vehicle with the worlds biggest trailer sounds an idea though, it will have to be big enough to fit six or seven whole Pandas in - I'll get my lady to come in the Mondeo estate too you can fit atleast two in the back of that and maybe one on the roof :D

Could we do some fundraising for Pinky with this do you think?

I thought that was a GP only thing  :p

i'd love to go but i could never afford a trip over seas. working or not!

Its cheaper that you think if you share with someone. Could come as a passenger with me and split costs down the middle :)

I'm in, date dependant, only got 2 sets of dates next year it cannot clash with. Would love to get Vicky over the water :)

As far as I'm concerned we won't be able to tag along with the GPs anyway, it'll be too soon for us to go next year I'm planning on spring 2015 but there is some good info on that thread of where to start.

MEP are you going with those guys next year?
