I have a MyLife Dynamic, this has the 69hp engine. I`ve never had a 60hp one so can`t comment on any difference.


All I can say is that it purrs along quite happily on the motorway (though I only get to do that once a year) and once, topped 100mph when overtaking.


It`s great around town, acceleration is good, if not as fast a more powerful cars.

These engines last a very long time if given regular oil and filter changes. My oldest was a 1000cc classic Panda with 108,000 miles, still purring nicely, no nasty noises and not needing oil top-ups between services. That was a puppy! There are threads on here with significantly higher mileages.

All the 1.2s have been 69hp since the 2010 facelift. (Bigger mirrors) The 69hp engine uses variable valve timing, so is as soft as the 60hp low down, but pushes harder higher up. Really is the best of both worlds. Despite being more powerful, it tends to be more economical too. Just don't ignore cambelt changes as it is no longer a "safe" engine.

My 60hp engine is quiet, soft and relaxing.
The 69hp is too, but can also be a little sporty if you push. If doing longer faster journeys, the 69hp is a bonus. Personally, I'd still choose it over the Twinair.

We have the 2011 1.2 Dynamic (and the 2011 1.4 100hp). The 1.2 is perkier than you think, and quieter about it, but lacks the low-end of the 100hp - more gear changing. Then again it reads 44mpg with spirited driving and costs £30 a year to tax..........

I had a 1.2 500 - fab engine it loved to be spanked when moving Audi TDI's out of the way!!!! Not tried a twin air, did try a 500 MJ, sorry to say WRONG that lump just killed the cars balance.

I've got a 69bhp Dynamic and I have to say it's good fun to drive. It's no sports car but does have a good bit of pep, and sounds good when you push it. Mine is only touching on 23K miles though! Fuel consumption is around early 40's mpg.

Keep changing the oil and that engine will easily do twice the mileage .Timing belt if it snaps will do no harm so low priority in getting it done .( Front) Suspension parts , tyres and front brakes about the only other potential things for which you could spend money on it .Keep it !

If you like to drive with a bit of enthusiasm and want a little more grunt, try the new Panda with a TA engine.

Most will admit it's not everyones cup of tea, but it sure is different!

I love the FIRE and have had one since it was born, but it only took two minutes in a TA to make my mind up.

Torque is pretty much constant from 1900 rpm, so it shoves you along on a mini wave of torque (190nm) generated by the tiny turbo.

True it can sound a bit harsh when revs reach the upper limit (and it's easy to hit the limiter in 1st and 2nd, particularly in the lower geared 4x4), but that isn't the way to drive it, there's just no need to rag it all the way around the tacho, just change up quicker and ride the torque.

Flogging it low down in a high gear just makes me grin, it sounds almost breathless and about to stall, but clog the pedal and it's off down the road with a demented howl/vibe.

Ok, you need to forget the claimed MPG, you ain't going to get near it, but it's an engine perfect for a little Fiat.

The Mrs is gutted she chose the 1.2- 69hp in her Lounge rather than the TA!

Well, currently in France where the speed limit is 81mph on the stretches I'm going. My panda purred along at 80 for 2hrs without a murmur! cruising at 70 still left room for overtaking too. Only trouble is going uphill, you need to drop a gear to keep the momentum going but I'm loving it ?
