Hey,

Having some problems starting the car from cold. Once the car is started it fires up first time in a matter of seconds

But after a day or two it will crank for a lot longer and even stall the first time it’s started

I think it’s the fuel line sending the petrol back into the tank, I belive there is a breather check valve that controls this or maybe the fuel pump, but not sure of its the fuel pump as it drives okay once started

Does anyone know of this car has a breather check valve and if so where abouts it’s located, I’ve found a replacement part for £15 but have not been able to find a guide to replacing this or where it is even located

Model
Fiat panda dynamic 1.2 petrol 169
Year
2006
Mileage
78000
I'd start by checking

Battery voltage at rest, after it stood for a day or so

Battery voltage while cranking after it's stood for a day

These cars use a returnless fuel system

Will do thank for you the advise, I just purchased a new battery so never thought it might be this haha.

How long does the fuel pump run as you 1st turn the key? 🤔

Normally only a few seconds

The pump "times out after @10 seconds,

Might be worth cycling it a few times before cranking the engine, 😏
IF it starts better it's a big clue to check the fuel system 👍

Maybe a few seconds maximum, I’ve tried turning power on and off a few times before starting engine but does not fix the problem but does seem to help a little on the first start. It’s weird as once started for the day it will start up straight away no issues after that

Pump primes approximately 2 seconds every time the ignitions is switched on

And runs continuously while cranking

The system does not hold any pressure as such
