Hello everyone. When I let go of the steering wheel in my vehicle. It tends to move slightly to the right.

I showed it to the technician for tire and balancing.

He said there was no problem. He controlled a digital machine by connecting it to the rims.

He then quickly released the car by lifting it 10-15 times with a pneumatic mechanism. (He checked the shock absorbers)

He said that the tires of the shock absorber mounts were quite worn out.

I haven't checked yet. But I think it might be worn out. It is possible that the vehicle was used in a hot climate by its previous owner.



What is your opinion on this issue? How important are shock absorber mounts? Can I change it myself? Do I need to get professional support?

Or are there any other parts for the wedges that need to be replaced when disassembled?
 
Pretty much anything made of rubber, yes I know not rubber, will deteriorate, and eventually need replacing

All will effect handling and steering

Here in the UK if the car is setup correctly it will pull slightly to the left due to the camber on the road, although it can be made to pull to the left or right by the calibration of the electric power steering

The most common ones are the suspension arm brushes, it normally the ones nearest rest of the car that go

Top mounts can effect the caster and the bearing can dry up and get gritty

Apart from the fact you will need a spring compressor they are easy to change, ignoring any corroded bolts

I just change parts as they wear out
 
I supplied the parts as "opar" brand. I will do it later.

The top of the front strut has an oval rubber block that carries the strut shaft thrust bearing. The bearings are not adequately greased so they will wear out. Unfortunately they are crimped so cannot be packed with grease.
You will need to fit new mounts which come with bearings.
It’s not a really hard job but you’ll need road spring compressors. I would consider fitting new struts and new pinch bolts at the same time. The springs do not need a huge amount of compression but you obviously need decent quality tools for the job.
 
I removed the shock absorbers. One looks different than the other. Different products from different brands. I hope this doesn't cause any problems.

I paid 35 £for shock absorber mounts. original opar brand.

I asked about the shock absorber price.
2 pieces KRAFTWOL 15010104-15010105
He estimated the shock absorber at 57 £.

I found the shock absorbers cheap. Considering the money I spent on rubber.

I'll probably change them too.
 
My shock absorber mounts were not sitting this high because they had burst before.

I guess it should be like this when under load.

Since I didn't know this, I took it apart and put it back on twice :D

@koalar what is the purpose of the 'outer' tab on the upper spring plate? When I replaced the front struts on my Panda, I just noted how the plates sat before and tried to keep them that way, and they could well be misaligned. It's not a great deal of work to take the struts off and realign those plates, if necessary, but do I need to do that?

All I know is the notch should be pointing towards the outside

If it didn't matter they would have been symmetrical, I would think
 
Another funny story

Right wheel hub replaced
Right wheel bearing replaced

Shock absorber mounts were replaced.


There was a squeaking sound coming from the front brake discs. So I bought new brake pads.


Now when I press the brakes one or both wheels shake.

Vibration increases especially at speeds above 50 km.


I was thinking of changing the disks.

However, a mechanic I consulted said that the front hub or another part might be bent.

He told me it might cost me less if I went to a brake shop.


Because if there is warping in the wheel hub, it will cause the new disc to warp again.



Do you have any ideas about this?

I've never struggled with anything in my life as much as this car.

This car has now become a passion for me.

The price of the vehicle in Türkiye is around 10,000 dollars. The money I've spent so far is $2000. These are quite serious amounts of money considering the prices in England.
 
The brake discs are held against the wheel bearing hub by the wheel bolts. Two M8 bolts retain the disc when the wheel is removed. Any pulsing under the brake pedal means the disc is not running true. There is debris between the dic and the hub or the hub face is not running true. It can be quickly checked with a dial indicator or you could come up with a way to use feeler gauges. There should be near zero wobble.

A worn disc that has been used on a wobbly hub will be 2x as bad when fitted 180 degrees from its original bolt holes position. Try the disc in all four positions and see which is the least bad.

OK, this makes sense. I will try it in all 4 positions and take notes.

Shake, vibration

Is it felt

At the steering wheel
At the brake pedal

And too much. I can tell it's coming from the right front wheel.

I think these appeared after part replacements.
 
Both of my brake discs were warped. It's my fault. When removing it, I hit the disc directly with a hammer.

It was corrected by shaving.

I will buy new discs later. Now my problem is solved.
