hi I have x244 2006 Rapido motorhome which is currently starting but when running the padlock light sometimes starts flashing or stays on does anyone know what may cause this as I am concerned that a fault is starting on the immobiliser?

You have not mentioned any starting problems. This would seem to exclude key code recognition faiure. However as a precaution you may wih to remove the lower column shroud, and the the code receiver connectors whith a small squirt of contact cleaner, before reconnecting. This cured my emerging key code problem about 18 months ago.

The key code indicator is controlled on the negative side by the code receiver. It is possible that the you may have a trapped or damaged cable somewhere, causing an intermittent earth fault. One location for trapped wiring, is between the upper column shroud, and the dash, when the column is in the fully raised position.

The code receiver is powered via fuse F18 in the engine bay fusebox. For elimination you may wish to confirm that F18 is secure, but if there was a problem there, I woud expect it to manifest when starting.

Another possibility could be an internal fault in the code receiver, but I hope not.

Finally do not overlook the possibility of rodent damage.

Thank you for the info
I will take a look at these areas on the motorhome I have got some contact spray so I will see how I get on I appreciate your help

I have had a look put some contact cleaner on the connectors checked wiring everything seems to be alright but the light still comes on either flickering or comes on after the vehical has started. Not sure if it is earthing problem? I have been in contact with a company that can check the immobiliser by taking out and sending it to them I may have to do this.

As my vehicle is a 2006 x244 2,8jtd, and having had an actual code failure, which was OK at immediate second attempt, I appreciate your concern. However as your engine has not failed to start, then perhaps the fault is elsewhere? The instrument panel, or associated wiring could be causing the problem. How to prove/disprove this is another problem.

Update
I took the ecu to a company and had the immobiliser removed. As they said it older technology now and very few replacements are available. I also picked it back up didn’t want to loose it in the post. One thing to mention though is you do need a code reader as they stated in the paperwork you can have errors when you put the ecu back in the vehical. The basic reader I have cleared them. I keep Motorhome in cassa gold storage.
Will get a new immobiliser fitted it also has a separate alarm system already fitted.
