Our Panda was stolen overnight from our driveway in Christchurch yesterday. It is light blue metallic and has a tow bar.We have had it from new.I suppose that it will be used for parts.I thought that nobody would steal an old Panda so this is just to let you all know to be wary! If anyone sees VA65 HTY please let me or the police know.Sorting out insurance and looking for a replacement-a bit of a pain!

Sad news, you might get a knock on the door from the police to say they've found it abandoned, hopefully it won't be in too bad condition, but you'll need to expect the worst.

Sorry to hear about your Panda. I'm not sure what could be done to prevent it from happening again to your next car. I presume they target the Panda knowing it's relatively simple to break into :-(

Try to find some threads on here and online from Abarth owners, as they are usually targeted as they are relatively rare / unique parts that there's a black market for. They might have some anti-theft practices / accessories that might help in the future.

Remember it's just an object / machine and car thefts can sometimes be much more violent / traumatising. At least you're safe. Insurance should look after you, after all, that's what they're robbing us for.

Let us know if you get a new Panda / Fiat and good luck.

The problem is with this model Panda which I found when I owned mine, I could never find steering locks on sale to fit the 319 Panda due to the horn/airbag in the middle of the steering wheel as it sticks out nor could you get a lock to go from the gearstick to the handbrake due to the weird shape of the hand brake lever, only thing I'd be able to think of is for other Panda owners to be a little creative in ways of disabiling their cars or disconnecting the battery every night as I used to do this with my old Mini I had which did work as a deterrent as when I was a binman my Mini was parked next to a colleagues Land Rover 90 which got stolen & when I went to leave that day I saw that they tried the locks on my Mini to try & steal it, unsuccessfully though as I'd disconnected the battery & pulled the vacuum advance pipe out the distributor which disabled it

I had a car stolen back in the year 2000. I'd been for a night out and left the car in the city centre, taking a taxi home. The car thieves lived in a different city and stole my car to drive home from their night out. It was found in the early hours of the next day, burnt out. My car was just a taxi to them, no complicated motivation.
