Hi guys,

Just reading your great forum but still can't find this: Please advice how can I connect original subwoofer in my trunk to aftermarket radio? I have original sub in the trunk and previous owner of the car told me that this sub works only with original radio, so I decided to leave aftermarket one with USB port and etc. I think that original sub is connected well, I just can't find a right wire to plug it in my afm radio. There is 2 scart connector already connected in my afm radio, and one yellow little scart mini connector (disconnected). Also my afm radio has 2 aux ports. where is the connector or aux connectors from the sub? Is that mini yellow connector the right one for my sub? Does exist some reducion or adapter from scart to aux?

Please guys help me!!!
Thanks.

I think the sub may still work with the aftermarket unit. The yellow plug is the remote wire that tells the amp to power up.
I'm slightly confused though as without that wire connected you should have no sound at all?
Anyway that just plugs into the back of the factory head unit. There is a socket that is big enough to take 3 of the plugs like the yellow one (called a mini iso).
Once you have managed to plug it in and it's all tested as working, if you would prefer the aftermarket unit reput it back in and bridge a wire from the wire on the mini ISO to the remote out on the head unit. If it works then do a safer and permanent connection and enjoy.

Thank you very much Volxstu,
The problem is that I dont have original head unit. I will try to connect it with aftermarket, but which wire on the aftermarket unit is the right one (remonte wire) that I have to bridge with mini ISO grey wire?
Below is a picture of my afm unit.

It should be that blue one, but it shouldnt be connected to the block. If you have a multi meter it will be the wire that comes live when the Head Unit is switched on.

Thank you again man, but I have found out another things that confused me. If you look at the picture below my afm unit doesn't have some pins (wires) in the ISO slot "A". There are missing wires 1,2,3,6. Wire 2 - is a subwoofer signal wire. So if I connect mini ISO to the afm unit and turn on amplifer, how can the sub play if there is no signal wire?. Another funny thing is that my afm radio doesn't have blue cable according to the spec. Could you please look at the photo below and tell me what do you think about?

I think if it possible to bridge one AUX wire (red or white, cuz I dont actualy know if this sub support stereo) with sub signal wire and connect it into afm's line out port... what do think?

I have never seen an original head unit with a Remote there. That diagram is not for your car.
What is the model of the head unit you are using?

Hi Volxstu,

On the picture there is not an original diagram, in the right corner is diagram of my aftermarket unit, the bottom photo is also my afm unit, in the left corner is a description of original FIat Stilo head unit connections. As afm unit I am using - manta RS4501

Sorry I'm on my phone I didn't see the one in the top right. It suggests that there is no remote which you can see there is no remote wire.
As far as the HU go's I can only suggest seeing if the aut ant turns on even in CD or Aux mode. Sometimes they activate when the radio powers on. Sometimes they only power up she using AM/FM for radio. If not just wire the sub remote to a switched feed of some kind.

OK, thanks, but I decided to visit some auto hi-fi service for that :), but anyway thanks for help Volxstu. I will post there a replay next week and discribe what they exactly do.

Hello Guys, again need your help,

In hi-fi service I have got an answer that they are not able to connect original sub with aftermarket head unit. So I have bought original head unit and sub is still not working f... b..ch.. So may question is how can I check i there is everything connected well. I have connected original head unit exactly according to the specification, so all connectros are in the right place. Also when i turn on the radio I hear specific sound like "woom" and seems like amplifer turned on, but no sound from subwoofer in the trunk... I have check fuse and its ok, so my question is " whats next?" how can I check wires that comming to sub? Or is there possibility that previos owner of the car turn sub off throught main controller using some diagnostic tool? is it possible? Please advice...

Is the remote wire connected using the Yellow mini connector at the Head Unit. Also the sub will work with an aftermarket unit. You just need to connect the remote wire i mentioned above to the Aftermarket units remote wire.
The next thing to try is to take the sub apart and see if it is connected to the amp.
Do you know if it is the Bose upgrade with the 5 channel amp? If so then the prvious owner may have blown the sub and disconnected it.

Hello Volxtru,

Yes, all wires are connected, yellow is connected to slot C to pin 6 that is amplifer control. A cannot connect aftermarket radio just only using remote yellow wire, cuz there are another wires from sub I mean in slot "A" pin 1.CAN A/ 2. Sub active 3. CAN B/. Aftermarket radio doesnt have this pins for this. So maybe with yellow wire I will smitch amplifer on, but how to get signal to sub? even its working with central controler through CAN bus.

I have checked all connectors under steering wheel and they seems to be ok, do you know if the wiring from the sub goes to another connector under driver's seat? or it goes directly to the control box under steering wheel?

Aslo do you know if sub can be switched off by a head unit and there is some option to turn it on?, I remeber that previos owner told me that sub is working...

Is there any way how to check wiries from sub if they are ok? using some volmeter or something..

In my car the signal and power went through another ISO connector on the passenger side near the glove box. Possibly behind the panel with the airbag ON/OFF switch and then down the side of the car to the amp in the boot.
I dont think it was can bis controlled.
You could test the remote wire at the sub end with a Multi meter. Maybe even the signal cables will give you a voltage.
