My local dealer just sold my missus 2l of 20k for £12 and would've done 5l for £23.

If you check Selenia's website they actually recommend K not 20K as Fiat put in them.

That's a bit weird, wonder if they've got some wires crossed somewhere.

From the Selenia website:

Advice on use: As per owners manual

5W/40 viscosity

The owners manual states 20K, a 10w40 oil. 5w40 is a cold climate oil.
As an aside, my local Fiat dealer use Shell Helix 10w40 oil.

same here...local dealer uses shell helix, but will use selenia if asked...quite happy paying £17 for 2 ltrs delivered, as I work nights and it,s a pain to get to my fart dealer in day light hours. saves on go juice as well....
ps......i,m going up the wooden stairs now.. :D

The hydraulic lifters, which are also used in some of Ford's Zetec engines created a lot of trouble with 10w40, which was the reason why the 5w30 was developed or otherwise known as Selenia Performer. The 5w40 was not only replacing it but also covering a wider range of applications, which is the reason why they called it the WR (=wide range).

The hydraulic lifters are astill the same and a lot of the real Fiat technuicians will tell you to ignore what the hand book says and will advise for the WR rather than the 20k.

And just to stop the argument: I have no finacial interest in Selenia WR!

exactly what this man said

Selenia WR 5W/40 or if you can get some Selenia performer 5W/30
for (all) fiats with hydraulic lifters so that's all 16v and the 899cc push rod
