Tuning oil breather pipe?

Tuning oil breather pipe?

What air filter? Should go into the air filter preferably.
Or you can get a mini air filter that attaches to the end of the breather. Shouldn't just go to atmosphere though

Hi Brought an air filter for my punto mk2 and it the one where its mounted on top on the engine, how ever i dont understand where to put the poil breather pipe, do i just leave it hanging off? or does it need to be connected to the air filter some how? Thanks
one end conects to the under side of the air filter, and the other end on to rocker cover

This is the air filter, like a k&n fits couldent i just leave the breather pipe out? with no filter on it? or will that cause damage?

the breather puts out fumes from the engine cover. and a bit of sludge now and again. been a lot of going on about "oil catch tanks" these attach to this and then to the filter.

Do not just leave it unattached. stick a mini filter on it at the very least.

Cheers

Russ.

Well i would have to wait for that to come from ebay or do halfords sell them? for quickness so i can fit it tomorrow

Yeah that one should fit, its got an adjustable bit at the bottom so even if its smaller than 19mm it goes down to 13mm or you could go and measure the pipe just to be sure but i think that one should do it

Are you planning on just trying to fit an air filter to the throttle body?

Got it fitted and yeah its directly onto the throttle body and the bonnet shuts with out hitting it i will get some cold air feed pipes tomorrow for it as i just fitted it, took it for a little drive and sounds 100% better (y) will get pics in better light and upload to here, also that oil brather filter fitts from halfords so im a happy bunny! :) next step will be to clean the engine bay up maybe give the rocket cover a lick of paint too :) :slayer:

ur better off buying the piping from the focus kit or a universal induction pipe to get it off the engine block. that way u will also have a place to fit the breather pipe. if u look on my thread i ended up re-routing my filter so its not sitting over the manifold. i used the original inlet from my air box but i have a 16v so its a little different. either way u wanna get it off the engine block. unless ur driving on motorways etc the cold air feeds wont do anything so u will just be sucking up hot air which = lower performance and mpg.

The oil breather filters are rubbish and the car will simply smell of hot oil.

Just fix the breather properly and all will be fine. Parts from a breakers would do.

The air filter mounted on top of the TB will be sucking hot air so the car will be even slower with it than before. Just running pipes to it from the car front wont do any good without a proper box over the filter. Something exactly like the one that's just been taken off would be perfect.

I've heard this alot about loss of power with the sucking in hot air etc.. it has imporved in power even with the hot air the only thing is that ive lost a couple mpg so i might be investing in the pipe to have it down behind the battery so its got cold air and see if it makes a diff too the mpg :)
