So I drove on a flooded rd, no problems, my multi started fine a few times after but yesterday when I tried to get somewhere it was dead.

Battery is fine, I got electrics but there's complete silence when I turn the key...

I've checked the fuses under the bonnet and they all seem fine...

Can't see anything loose to the starter.

Firstly, I have an interview and need to drop my kids to a friends, if j get multi towed to a hill will it likely hill start???

And secondly, where do I go from here? In finding out what is wrong I mean....

First check all your earths - FIRST AND FOREMOST the big fat earth lead from the car body to the engine - normally it is along the seam between the block and the sump, near the gearbox..

Really give it a good tug and a shaking about. They have a habit of dry-jointing inside the "cup" of the connector and when they do, they will give exactly the symptoms you describe - ie "nothing happens".

If you find it is loose, you can do a quick bodge by squeezing the cup of the connector with pliers - but ultimately, you need to either get it re-soldered ir really properly crimped.

Post back if that doesn't help.
 
This is a common problem the day after a flood. The electrical connectors are nominally waterproof, and will generally shrug off a deluge quite well. It is the condensation that finds the gaps. Overnight, being more damp under the bonnet than usual, condensation has entered one or more connectors.

Sadly, it is a slow process, start at the ECU, remove the connector and ensure it is dry. Your hairdryer might be useful here, with some contact cleaner, but be careful not to ignite the contact cleaner. Follow all the cables, and dry every connector you can.

See if MES shows any codes, that might save some time.

Ok, quick update... Dead still this morning,
I went out and bought a tow rope this morning, got my elderly neighbour to tow me to jump start it and it started no probs, when I'd driven a bit I stopped and restarted it again no probs... So I'm hoping condensation is all it was...

I was trying hair drier last night... ?

Maybe getting it running and getting some warm air circulating about the engine bay has dried out whatever the cause may have been.

I had an old Strada that used to do the same now and then. No amount of jumping or fiddling would get it running, but a quick tug up the road and away she went. Just occasionally. Never got to the bottom of it. My brothers old Uno 70 showed the same temperament.

I had a moped when I was young and that just wouldn't drive in the rain... But everything is a bit more exposed on them

My first bike was a Garelli Record, bought as two boxes of bits. Direct electrics (so no battery - if the engine stopped, the lights went out) and no brakes to speak of, but I loved it. Very light - I could pick it up with one hand if the tank was dry - and quite quick for a fifty. Capable of over 50mph on a timed straight. Painted up in a Ducati lookalike red scheme. I still miss it. 'Garelli' and 'reliable' are not two words you'd hear in the same sentence though ;)
