Technical Noisy front suspension

Technical Noisy front suspension

Hi there,

It was the drop links. New ones fitted and it is much much quieter and feels solid.

Thanks again all for your guidance.

I think they have clonky suspension. Ours has just started again and drop lonks were pretty new. I changed them again and its made no difference. I do know that seating the springs just right is crucial or grit / stones get lodged in the spring seat and cause havoc. In our case im suspecting we have lost a small pieceoff the end of the spring. I have also had the air con condensr loose and that sounds exactly like a suspension knock. Ours is now packed with foam and silicon sealant. We had odd clonks after new top mounts, struts and arms too. I loosened it all off wiggled it all and tightened up and they all disappeared for 30K.

Didnt you realise that irritation is one of Fiats most commonly fitted aftermarket extras!?  🤣

Just some info on changing wishbones, having looked up youtube videos a while ago I noticed you need to remove front bumper to change as there's a bolt that's obscured. I had both of mine replaced yesterday by my indie and he said its not necessary to remove bumper - he has replaced a few and uses a modified wrench with an an extra piece of metal welded on to it so you can get the angle to access the bolt - he said its much easier than removing and realigning bumper. Moral is dont believe everything on youtube! Had a similar experience last year with a dmf & clutch replacement - all youtube vids say remove bumper but it's not actually necessary.

I changed my drop links today (very similar noise) they were shot!! Had a few years out of em anyway but went for some heavy duty ones this time! The passenger side link had no resistance at all on either boot and the driver side lower boot had leaked all its juice out 😂💦

Did both my front struts yesterday…. New springs & top mounts a de rust and spray of my struts and my car once again feels sweet!
My konis have suffered from the great weather we have … but I’ve done my best to give them extra life!
I’ve new tie rod ends to fit then off for an alignment
The top mounts I took out were like a babies rattle and the rubber was starting to go the springs were both rusty!
This time I went for better for both!
