Technical Ngk spark plug dcpr7e or dcpr8e

Hello to Everyone...

This is mohamed here from Dubai i am having punto mk 2 (2002) Automatic model i think this is the time for changing spark plug bcoz engine vibration some its getting turned off also. My mechanic advised me to me change the plug.

I am in the process searching spark plug for my car but fiat is very very low sale here specially punto I cannot find any car other than mine!!!!!!!!

NGK offical webiste is saying you should fit plug DCPR8E but here local NGK dealer is having only DCPR7E. Can I fix the available one whether it will cause any damge to my car ???

After decoding the NGK spark plug numeric number is stands heating rating element.

More likely to plug leads than plugs.

Can't advise without knowing year of manufacture of car and which engine (8v or 16v).

Its a fiat punto 2002 model 1.2 16v ELX

DCPR8E

BUT any equivalent plug from another manufacturer will be just fine -- AC Delco, Champion, Bosch, etc.

DCPR8E is an extremely "cold" plug -- you're probably more likely to find a set at a motorcycle dealer.

Code read advised, but I still think it's more likely to be the leads.

can i use the plug DCPR7E instead DCPR8E. whether it will cause ant misfire in the engine?

More likely to cause detonation/pre-ignition (much more damaging!)

But (I repeat):

Much more likely to be leads than plugs
Another make of plug will be fine
Get the codes read

DCPR8E is a very hard plug, but NGK/FIAT will be recommending it for a reason.

You can get them on eBay UK.............

i have small doubt i tried cross reference of spark plug. Bosch YR7DE is recommended as a replacement for both dcpr7e or dcpr8e. how it is possible ?

Different manufacturer's plugs tend to have different heat ranges, some will be wider, some narrower.

You should be OK with the Bosch ones, although, as a brand, I don't generally like their plugs.

Accidentally i have e book access to punto hand book in that plug specfiacation they are saying dcpr7e but NGK web site is recommeding dcpr8e.

I am totally confused which one i can take please see the snapshot of both images

That would be my best guess. 8 always seemed very hard.

Finally i changed my plug but still i am having list of problem as per below.

1. Engine is not powerful, it just struggle to move on i am using an automatic version.

2.When i pedal my accelerator vehicle is giving jerks so i am slowly given the pedal accelerator to move on the vehicle.

when the car is idle also it give jerks in some interval.

i cleaned the air filter & top up engine oil, automatic transmission.

what could be the reason for this jerks in the car ? what i need to increase the smoothness & power.

one of the mechanic told me some electric called delco is causing this problem is that true?

Not sure what he's talking about - Delco are a manufacturer of electrical and electronic components (as AC Delco they make spark plugs, for example). So it could be almost anything he means....

Leave that poor mechanic what i could do to solve this problem. Spark plug wire may cause this problem?

I doubt it. I've no experience of automatic transmissions (apart from having to drive the odd car with one), but could be a clutch issue.

Maybe best post as "jerky take up, automatic transmission".

I'd be tempted to flush the gearbox out, and replace the filter and oil... -- turned my Speedgear from slightly jerky to as smooth as silk....

Getting hold of the filters can be a real pain, though....
