Newbie with probs known problem

Hi

Just got a little 95 N punto 75sx, with a problem which i've been told is probably the ecu. Fault is - on starting the engine it revs high (approx. 4000) then after a few minutes the revs drop but engine continually 'hunts'. The boyfriend has had a look and messed around with the engine and at one point had it running ok. Does anyone have any ideas. We've been told so many different things! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome :wave:
It could be many things... it could be an airleak somewhere. i.e. the engine is getting air from somewhere that it shouldn't, like a blown intake manifold gasket.
Or, the engine isn't getting enough fuel through... like blocked fuel injectors.
