General New Serbian Quota

General New Serbian Quota

You'll need special flatbed haulage back to the UK if you don't drive them back. And that isn't cheap! You'll have to do export customs in Serbia and import customs into UK. Plus all the registration with DVLA and it will most probaly have to conform to UK MOT laws too. There £110 on tax and MOT! say £200 for new plates and reg with DVLA. And i reckon £950 is probs the cheapest for flatbed haulage back to the UK if you don't drive. Plus all customs fee's (only really the entry to HMC). No VAT and i suspect no Duty as it's a used product.

Not sure how it works with customs. Surly if they ask you just say I'm going over to UK in it and coming back in 3 weeks time they won't know any difference (naughty I know :p)?

They will know. If its anyrhing like UK customs they have different types of export. You'd have to do Permanent. N if you'd try to do it and say it's coming back soon the only place it can go is Italy

I get it now, you mean you'd have to declair it so they release the docs to DVLA for reg over here.

Stephen should know, he's not long taken a Panda 30 into the UK. Will quickly search his thread.

Different for Stephen as he came form an EU country. As far as i know Serbia isn't EU. I might be wrong, and if it is it's a doddle. just drive it home.

Releasing doc's isn't really that important customs wise. But you'll probably need valid reg docs in Serbia to get it out of the country

Oh buggar yea, my geography never was my strong point  (Sat Nav is my best friend when I leave East Anglia :p)

I'm naff at Geography, considering I ship stuff all over the world each day is a little un setling. I'll investigate fully on Monday at work about how to import cars into the UK. It's only gonna be really them checking if its stolen form the country it came from. But lets be honest... A panda? not quite the same as a high end Range Rover or Merc is it?:p

Hi there!

I am Mihailo a.k.a Gibanitza from Serbia,Belgrade ...

These Pandas were imported from Italy ( don't know if Aca mentioned that) where they were used in Telecom Italia as utility vehicles. Year of production is mostly 2002 and there are some made in 2003, engine is 1.1 MPi (engine code 187A1000)... Body is ussualy in very good shape (despite numerous scratches and smaller dents), mileage can be rather high on most of the cars (around 60 000 miles), and bad news is that there is no opportunity to do test drive properly before buying it 'cause they are not registered and have no plates though you can pick up some mechanic who has diagnostic equipment to check up candidates.

Distance between Novi Sad and let's say London is about 1200 miles (passing through Hungary, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France).

In Serbia Cost of converting them to passenger vehicle is about 200-250€ for parts (rear hatch with glass, rear windows, rear seats and if you are lucky you can get parcel shelf :) ) and about 50-60€ for atest (homologisation?)...

Don't know how customs works but I think (not quite sure) that our goverment signed Stabilisation and Association Agreement with EU so there are no customs fees any more... But I think that it is mandatory for used car to be registered if you want to export them (about 150€ for Fiat Panda)...

If you have any more questions I will be happy to give you hopefully usefull answers...

Regards,
Mihailo

Thanks Gibanitza....we have lots of standard pandas so we are very interested because they are van's!!!!! Very rare in the UK. If i was to get one i would leave all the car as it is with the "Telecom" paintwork..

It does seem like a bit of a hassle though with the paperwork..

cheers kev

Ok, I got it... Then it is much easier. All you have to do is to register it as utility/cargo vehicle which is a bit more expensive (around 200€), and as far as Serbian authority are concerned you are free to go wherever you want...

So, let's say for around 2k€ you will get nice seven year old Panda with Euro3 emission standards.

If you are interested I can ask some of my friends (who sold some vintage VW's to foreign markets) about the procedure of exporting car from Serbia.

Regards,
Mihailo

it would be better to get them from Italy...which is in UE. Easier to register in UK...

So I'm wondering... just what happens to all the van bits then?
