Very much possible. I'd be surprised if the wiring isn't already there as mine has one.
If wiring isn't there the hardest part is finding the wire for the reverse light which is the trigger wire to turn it on and off. The rest are easy.

Not very related, but when I change the radio, do you think it would be possible to add a reverse camera? Don't currently have one

Sounds good. Thank you, normally everything has to activated so the new radio with the option will be on the list. Is your Tipo the version without it as standard also? Did it work with your current radio?

Aye I've got it as standard and quality is pretty good until winter or wet. It's placement is right above the number plate and it get pretty mucky on these Scottish roads.

In the UK in general winter or wet is over half the year, my brother says it's nearly always winter or wet where he is in Scotland

Aye he's right. I'm in Fife so east central belt.
One nice thing my reverse camera has that after market ones don't often get is something ties in with steering angle so when I'm parallel parking it curves the lines to guide me. Not that I really need it with 25+ years driving.

I threw a chinese unit to mine about five years ago. In the radio can bus settings there were couple options, selecting "high level" option stopped the odometer from flashing. Originally had the basic radio with the more graphical dash.
Mine had DVD player which Ive never used but it was before they started adding android auto/carplay. But it has working BT and google maps that I just share internet from my phone and voice/other stuff works (havent logged into google on the radio).
Having dedicated button to shutdown the display is also nice.
New one from the same manufacturer seems to drop the dvd but keep the slot?
Reverse camera is triggered through CAN and will display blank screen if you have enabled in settings it with no camera connected
Found a video of the newer settings on the freefloating unit

Interested in this thread, as I've just bought a brand new 2024 Tipo sedan (saloon) in South Africa (I live in Scotland but holiday in South Africa.) It's called the Tipo City Life sedan, 1.6 petrol engine, 6-speed auto. The head unit is pretty awful, with that little 5" display, and of course, no Android Auto or Carplay capability, which I find it hard to live without. So, I've also been looking at these Chinese replacement head units, but they confuse me a lot! So many different specs, and the all seem to say they are for 2015-2017, so I've no idea if they will work (or how well) on a brand new Tipo.... My car already has Satnav, reversing camera, AM/FM radio, no DAB, but some settings for the car are only configurable on the radio, so I wonder if any of these settings can also be configured on the replacements.... Also I wonder if anyone has retrofitted things like start/stop or Qi charger? Any advice anyone?
