Hi,
Im not sure about the car itself, but the 1.9 JTD engine is superb (Ive driven a Stilo JTD). Also there hasn't been many JTD engine failures on this forum, that ive seen and my local Fiat dealers say they dont get many faults with them.

I have test driven the new Multipla 1.9JTD [hmm, actually it was a courtesy car whilst my Stilo in for warranty work].

What budget do you have? i.e. what is discounted cost of Multipla compared to the equivalent Ford and Opel cars? I take it you do not live in the Uk.

Welcome to the forum!

I've heard no particular bad reports about the JTD it looks good. Remember also the multipla is a six seater whilst the others are 5 seats. I reckon it's a good price in any case.

Hi,

i want to buy N1 version of new Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD Dynamic - it is 5 seats vesion without VAT. My budget is 17950 Eur. Discounted cost is 17800 Eur without VAT. This price including parking sensores, N1 version reconstruction- refridgerator, metalic colour and window airbags. :)

Is it better than C-Max and Meriva?

Hafan, it's not possible for anybody to say "it's better than X" partially because this is a Fiat website and it would be a biased opinion and also because they are just so very different for everybody.

For example, on Top Gear (BBC TV program) they did the C-max Vs. Scenic (I think it was the C-max), they said the Scenic was better but the C-max although slower had a sportier feel due to the firmer susp. I thought "great, but what if you like a harsh ride?" hence it comes down very much to personal opinion.

I would try all the cars you can and see what you like best, if it's the multipla and you like the styling, go for it, if you don't get on with it, fair enough, ignore it. Most of the diesel engines in those sorts of cars are excellent so that shouldn't be a worry.

Thank you,

I know, it was so bad question "it's better than X". On the other side, when I want to buy new a car I want compare some models and quality. Multipla is No.1 for me from first moment.
I heard a lot of about bad quality of Fiats and this will be my first Fiat. I had Skoda, VW and Ford. Because Im so careful.

I want to go to buy it on Friday (y)

Many Thanks

I've had a multi for over a year now, it's had a few problems (handbrake cables and a waterpump) but generally it's been reliable. I bought the 115jtd which is quick and economical (have had 50mpg on a run to the south coast).

Your friends views are there own. Personally I have a Vauxhall if it was given to me (well apart from a Monaro) and the seats in the Zafira are like dolls furniture - compare them to a multipla's seats which are huge!

If I was thinking about another vehicle in this class I'd look at the new 6 seater Honda mpv.

I think the JTD unit has proven itself to be just as good and reliable as other similar units around.

Personally i'd go for the multipla simply because its different and has a whole lot character then the others mentioned. Thats what makes it a Fiat.

At the end of the day its a FIAT and how I look at it is, as long as the major components are reliable and your prepared to put up with the little niggles (which should be covered under warranty) then your onto a winner. You get a whole lot more car for your money too!

Also I can't stress enough how important it is to get it maintain by the correct people. Use the dealers while under warranty, then find a Fiat specialist once its expired. I have recieved alot better customer service along with much more passion and knowledge for the brand by independant Fiat specialists.

Good Luck with your decision!

Carlo

Only compare it to the Honda. The Multipla is a better concept however be prepared for lots of annoying problems but the car will go on and on. JTD engine not as good as PSA unit and economey? You seem to either get a good one or a bad one with no reason for poor consumption from dealer. Mine goes well but not with the performance you would expect from 115BHP,consumption is rubbish at 35 to 38 mpg mostly done with empty car, 60 mph on dual carr/ motorways. My old Ulysee out performs it.

I am pretty sure the 1.9 jtds are one of the best diesels in the world. after all fiat pioneered the common-rail system. Also, i think ht e 1.9 jtd is a better unit than the psa equivalent. (ayreg).
I can remember on fifth gear they tested some Mpv's and done some good tests for mpv's. there was one for sound levels in the cabin. The multipla (jtd) was the quieter even compared to the honda (vtec), vw, vauxall, and renault and toyota i think.
there was a test for visibility and multiapla was best. (i think very important for an mpv) and there was one test for braking (to a stop) and steering to one side at 50mph. The multipla was best. I think it sort of is up to you to deciede??????
