Technical new member seeking some assistance

Hi there joined this morning i have never owned a fiat but i do curently own a golf which i am in the process of rebuilding so i am ok with doing most mechanical things myself anyway the mrs just passed her test and bought a 2002 punto 1.2 8v which when checking over the car it seemed spot on low mileage looked after ect. This morning we noticed a gurggeling sound coming from inside the car arround the heater matrix area at a guess i would think this means its drawing in air . I bleed the system topped up and was still doing it especially under load so i am thinking head gasket but there are no obvious signs like i have seen before so i guess my question is has anyone had or heard of the same kind of problem

I had my punto bled and it still had the same noise, I think it's just what it's like to be honest, there a pain to get right

I automatically thought head gasket and searching google only makes things worse lol

Haha exactly what I did it's been like it since I brought it, I've drove it for a year and done over 3000 miles with the noise and nothing has happened

Well ive got to admit thats good to hear i will just need to keep an eye on water levels they seem like fairly simple wee engines and parts are pretty cheap so even if it comes to i dont mind changing it but ni point if its fine thanks for your help i can niw at least hang fire on it

I hear a gurgle too. I just assumed it was how it was meant to be? lol

They are absolute barstewards to bleed, that's the long and short of it. But that doesn't mean you should'nt try, try and try again.

ive tried all methods,

i now just force the air out with coolant, (coke bottle)

take out the excess from rad with syphon pipe,


Make sure rad is not over filled, ..The Max line is for hot coolant,

It can also help if the front of the car is higher than the back... -- and don't forget, there are two bleed screws: one next to the rad, and one next to the bulkhead.... :nono:

ithink the gurgle can be caused by a overfilled rad too,

I had to top it up by about half a litre last night so will keep an eye on it and make sure its not loosing water thanks for all help will also try another bleed at weekend

Just an update the wee punto seems to be using quite a bit of water and i cant see any leaks so i think it might be a gasket job

are you sure you are not just feeding the air void that the gurgle brought to your attention?

At the start i kind of thought that but have now topped up 4 times from just under min till max mark and now its back to under min will give it another week and see how much more it uses

the coolant will rise & fall if theres airlock,

check top pipe is it getting hot?
Thermostat's is prone on these as weve seen here recently,

Yeah top hose is gettin hot and fan seems to be kicking in when it should also rises to temp as it should and stays there i will watch over this coming week again and try giving it another bleeding

Noticed today water out exhaust so defo head gasket has went between cylinders , going to order parts wheres the best place for punto parts ecp?? Thanks

Hello. about the water in a punto. i got the headgasket job done for 1½ year ago.

Wanted to ask? may the water level change over time?
Is it ok for it to go from max to min over about 1 year?

I would say max to min over a year is ok haha the mrs one is max to min every day ?

No it dosent and when the car just starts getting warm
