Dear fiat drivers,
My car used to drive quite differently with the old injectors:
First start was difficult, if I started it again nothing wrong. Driving in a traffic jam or in gear without accelerating was almost impossible. Then it was a real rocking horse.

Injectors cleaned (ultrasonic) helped a little but not much. So bought new injectors, starting is now smooth and the bucking/hobbling has stopped. However, when I step on the gas now the car accerates much more evenly, this benefits driving comfort. Only with my old injectors the car was much flutterier, at least the throttle response. How can this be? Were the injectors allowing more fuel through, making the car feel smoother, but also causing regular stalling at first start (cold) and jerking during traffic jams?

It takes some getting used to, but are the old injectors broken or is there a difference in injectors? The car is 23 years old and so are the old injectors.

My injectors are probably about 20 years old. I am often thinking about splashing out on new injectors! The car runs ok but I am not really sure about petrol consumption. On my car you can arrange the injectors outside of the engine so you can spray into a baking dish with some tissue paper so you can see the shape of the spray pattern. Sometimes the injectors will leak when uncommanded and do not spray when commanded but rather dribble or spray irratically. I got a cheap set of injectors and a rail from ebay which did make the car run a bit better maybe and then later I just used the best spraying injectors and left the others soaking in cleaner.

In the picture you can see some red paint on an injector. That was put there by the ebay seller. Even after soaking for 5 years it has not come off.

U better buy OEM ones and not the cheap iwp006 (ali express) ones. A total crap!!. I also had spoken a guy who have had 9 hgt’s and he said that no one drives the same. To many variables like:
- engine timing (9/10 belts are done wrong)
- injectors
- broken, bad of remake cam varaiator
- broken/bad lambda’s
- bad coils

The 1.8 16v is a old engine and many Parts are aftermarket and not so good as OEM.
