Technical new key

i have a 2002 punto active 1.2 we only have one key for it (blue transponder type). i have another key for a different ignition barrel, can i get a new key cut, remove the transponder from the un-used key and re programme the transponder myself without having to use a main dealer?

If you need to ask the question, you can't do it. But here are places that can clone the first key. Whether they can re-program an already programmed chip is something I don't have a definitive answer for.

just get a key cut from timpsons £40 - new key with transponder

They wouidnt supply me one at 40 quid,

they wanted price for key then programing then for going out to the car,

price went up and up, (go forth and multiply mr timpsons!!

(ive heard timpsons are a franchise so they all charge differnt at each branch, not good that if its true,

they seem like it to me,

thats just my findings anyway..

They're some kind of cross between a franchise and a worker's co-operative.

This isn't -- necessarily -- a bad thing, comrades. Does mean that the local store can negotiate lower prices, try to meet local conditions, etc.

well all i can say is the two times i have used them they have been brill,
first time cut a new key for my sons scooter from a snapped key, worked first time
second time was last week cut chipped key for our lasses corsa B fits lock better than original.
maybe down to the guy doing the work

I didn't have a problem when I got a duplicate for my Fez, they even scrapped the first one and started again after umpteen trips to the car park! Only paid £25 too. I still have it in my man tin (haven't owned the car since May though!)

As far as i know timpsons still cant do code 2 system keys like the mk2 punto has.

It can not be cloned.
Timpson's can not do this key.


This is a pre-coded ID 48 chipped key.
£90 to forum members.
We need the car for about 30mins.

Timpson's claim they can clone these,

how ever they wanted daft money,

started off at 40notes overthe phone .. face to face price went up,they rang someone and then said we need to programe your car delete any missing keys & programe the one ihave plus the one they claim they couid cut & code,
