Anyone have a recommendation for a really good service manual for the 1978 Fiat 124 Spider Convertible 1800? The Haynes and Chiltons seem OK, but I only found those in Black and White and since I'm trying to see small details to reassemble my engine which is in parts, color would be much...

I remember your previous thread ^^ with the same query and you had dismissed both the Haynes and Chilton manuals as not meeting your requirements. I don't recall any 'shop manuals for cars back then (c.1978) having color pics. Even the wiring diagrams were in b/w and used 2 or 3 letter codes to indicate the cable colors.
One possible solution would be for you to post pics of the things you want to reconnect and maybe someone here can advise you. The under hood wiring is relatively simple, the cables often can only reach their intended electrical unit, some units have block connectors that will only allow the correct group of cables in the appropriate mating block to be connected into place on the unit, connecting cables to, e.g. relays, just needs you to look at the terminal numbers on the underside of the relay and using the wiring diagram as your guide, connect the appropriately colored cables to the correct terminals.
Not very difficult, just needs a little patience + might have to clean the colored insulation to correctly identify the color.
Connecting a carb.? It can only be fitted in 2 ways - the right way is so that the fuel supply connection (a short brass stub/little metal pipe) is towards the front of the car. Then connect the flexible fuel hose from the fuel pump (which is on the side of the engine below the intake manifold) to this brass stub. If there are 2 brass stubs on the carb, the larger one is the fuel supply from the pump, the smaller one is a fuel return to the fuel tank and will be connected to a smaller flexible hose. Tighten the hose clamps and connect the throttle linkage and small coolant hose connections to the choke (afaik, your carb has a coolant operated choke).
Radiator? It fits into a bottom rubber lined bottom mounting bracket, then is secured in place with 2 washers +nuts, connect the top and bottom coolant hoses, the pipe to the expansion tank and connect up the electric cooling fan wiring and the fan sensor wiring (at the bottom of the radiator). After any other hoses have been connected (incl. at the carb. choke unit) and heater unit, fill the cooling system with coolant, run engine and bleed any air from the system.
Air pump? Haven't a clue, (over here) I've only seen cars after the air pumps had been removed and discarded along with the rest of the emissions gear.
Afaik, many in the USA remove this 'smog' equipment and blank off any openings to improve engine running, but as you're in CA, idk if this is ok to do.
Posting pics (in color if you prefer...) of the areas you're working on and the units/parts you want to re-install might be the best way of getting the help you want.
