Hey all! I am trying to identify 2 small pumps that are connected via the main harnesses of the vehicle (don't appear to be aftermarket add-ons simply because they are wired using stock clips and not tapped into the harnesses). There is one on each fender (engine bay). Initially I assumed they were windshield washer pumps, but that pump is part of the washer fluid bag. Both pumps in question have no plumbing - just wired. Also worth noting: (1) had metal plumbing nubs and (1) has plastic plumbing nubs.

Thanks!

Fuel pumps, perhaps someone had upgraded the pump to something a bit better or more modern ?

Could the screen wash system have been replaced at any point ?

If the car lived in cold climates at any point in its life could these pumps have been used to moved coolant around the engine while it was plugged into a heater of some sort?

Thanks folks - I haven't tested them; but will try putting 12 volts to them. I don't see any additional mods to the cooling system but it may have been reverted to oem.

The car resides in North texas (and according to prev owner it always has). It's in far too good shape to be stored outdoors for any length of time - zero penetrative rust even at the seep holds in doors. Using a paint gauge indicates original paint.

I will also trace the existing connections and try to identify where they terminate. There are no aftermarket switches (currently) installed that I can locate visually.

I think I figured it out - the previous owner appears to have stripped the motor of all\most emissions controls\systems; I found similar "pumps" in pictures online of '76 Spiders that are plumbed but these pictures also show the additional air-pump, recirculation valves, etc. that are not on my vehicle.

You have to wonder what emissions control systems were even fitted to a 1976 fiat, in Texas,
I hilighted everything in blue (from another 76) that is NOT on my vehicle lol. There is much more that is not visible. Whomever did it, did it right - that used proper fittings to cap manifold openings, etc. ... there is one set of connections that were left "dangling" lol; I am handling those.
