Technical Fuel pump sound

I just purchased a 1985.5 Pininfarina Azzurra. When turning on the ignition to MAR, the sound of electric fuel pump is clearly noticeable. However, if I keep the ignition on but do not turn over engine, the pump continues to make noise. Is this normal? Shouldn’t the pump stop once system is pressurized? Once the motor is on, I can’t hear the pump but I am sure the sound of the motor masks it.

My 74 spider makes a very obvious fuel pump sound the entire time the key is on.
