I Really love Fiat Cars I know i should go for a bravo but here in Egypt the choices are a bit confusing for instance you can buy a:

-Fiat grande punto 1.4 8v (no rims) with the following (The basic one in the egyptian market has a fully adjustable drivers seat with also a fully adjuatable steering wheel, remote center-locking/boot-open, Rear Foglights, front electric windows, radio cd player, entry level trip computer, elec. mirrors, smokers-package, 3 rear head rests, Manual Climate control, multi-funtional steering wheel mounted controls, 2 front airbags, Dualdrive steering) For 89,900 Egp L.E.
(If I pay 10,000 L.E. more I get it as a Dualogic with front Fog lights a better trip computer and an extra power outlet in the boot)
* As a Comment the price is great on the overall scale but however the residuals are down and ofcourse i don't know about 1st world fiats reliability records in Egyptian Road conditions and after reading so many complaints about the gp's issues i'm kinda concerned about my money, Plus the Car is a bit tiny for its price competitors when it comes to boot size and car width.

-New Fiat Bravo 2007 1.4 16v 6-speed gearbox (16" rims) with the Following (The basic one in the Egyptian market has The 2 front seats Fully Adjustable w height, also the driver has a fully adjustable steering wheel, Dual-Drive power steering, Rear and Front Fog lights -front with cornering function. 4-Electric windows, remote center-locking/boot open, Radio-cd-Mp3 player+ Blue and me+ USB Port (Not the navigator plus), the trip computer with the multi configurable display for sms reading,Electric mirrors not folding thou, non-smoking package?, 3 rear head rests, Multi funtional steering wheel mounted controls, Automatic Dual-Zone Climate control with a rear ac fan in the middle, sport dash numbers and carbon-like dash, no arm rest though. For 140,000 Egp L.E.

*The only bad thing about this car is that its not tested yet by the general consumer and its a tad pricey, but a fiat's what I Prefer to drive and own not some crappy japanese cars (Honda Civic 1.6 140,000 also) or a non-original german car (Opel Astra Ecotech 1.6 150,000) or the outdated French cars (Renault Megane k4m 1.6 160,000 OR Peugeot 307 1.6 155,000) and of course the over priced (VW Golf 5 1.6 FSI 180,000 to 220,000) OR the aging (Ford Focus Duratec 1.6 145,000)

*All I want to know is which is wiser to buy from the 2 fiats cosidering Economy, Price, Equipment, Space, Reliabilty, Comfort, Drive, and if it can survive Egypt's brutal roads, bumps, and crazy drivers and the fact that the max octane being sold at the fuel filling station is 92 plus there is no selenia oil in Egypt only Mobil-1 ofcourse not letting the last one slip yes = crappy service and if there's anything else there I should know about and finally justify. (P.s.These packages in Egypt cannot be changed and they both have no ESP onboard but have ABS+EBD)

Have you test driven any of them yet - that would be a good starting point :)

Come on! I'm in THE Fiat Forum and can't get but one answer? (Not to mention with no justification no explanations of whatsoever)

You people can do better!

I'd personally go for the bravo 1.4 but not non-turbo version.

New bravo is better engineered, more expensive yes but you pay for what you get however.......you dont say for what purpose the car is for? How much mileage will you do yearly? How many people do you travel with? mainly town or open road driving etc etc

The thing is there is no test driving allowed in Egypt :(

ehhh......... is there a reason why? Is it the law, does any dealer allow test drives? Cant you leave a security deposit and take a sales person with you? To buy a car without driving it seems crazy when your paying £12-15K for a car.

Perhaps you should go on the fiat web site and request a test drive, i know if i did my local dealer would be on the phone Monday to book me up for one! (And yes i know your in Egypt), but FIAT must have some responsibility to allow for the provision of test drives.

I will try the test drive request thing from fiat.

and about my driving conditions well i kinda do about 20,000 to 35,000 kms a year and in very harsh road conditions (bumpy rocky broken deformed even offroad/sandy/muddy a bit!) very hot climates (air-condition on all summer long and 25% of the winter), 40%-60% road driving (on the road i drive 80-120 km/h) the rest is extremely slow urban driving (top speed 60 km/h avg speed 25 km/h.) and ofcourse the car demands 95% fuel octane and the maximum in egypt is 92% soo what do you think will a Bravo withstand all that Or a Grande Punto. oh yeah i kinda drive my car too slowly as i really love my cars and respect them. my driving style with my current 1.3 FIRE Palio ELX (1 year old 20,521 km) mostly consists of accelerating slowly most revs at 2500-3000 rpm not more unless i'm in a tight fix and i go for 3500-4000 rpm and i try my best in avoiding most bumps on the road. finally ofcourse I mostly decelerate with my engine rather than braking immaturely and overheating the brakes.

well i dunno i asked them they didn't agree maybe its because egyptians are extremely crappy abusing drivers and 80% of test drive requestors are just interested in burning up the car and do not wish to buy it?

Either way i think also the peeps at fiat egypt are extremely cheap to sell us expensive or cheap cars without allowing us to test them first

By the roads you describe, i'd get an old landrover discovery, or jap 4x4 with aircon of course! You wont have to care about the road surface, or the petrol quality, and be higher than most things on the road, and bumbs and scrapes wont matter. But thats me.

Whats up with your 1yr old Palio?

Well I can Import but however I'll kiss the service and insurance good bye and also kiss my money good bye and finally kiss the sedici good bye too. as a tip Fiat is For Economy as long as there ia a service center.

as for other car brands I'm kinda... what do they call it..... I hate any car that isn't within fiat i guess that sums it up.

and Range rovers, and japanese 4x4 old and new in egypt their prices range from 500,000 pounds to 2 mills and going up and good monthly wages in egypt without insurance are 5000 Le! and 1$= 5.75 L.E. Plus all the Range rovers and japanese suvs have extremely low reliabilty records in egypt I always see range rovers being towedaway in egypt by either Fiats (From 132 to Mareas) or peugeots, bmws, mercedes, or the ultra expensive american cars.

as for my palio shes doin great Extraordinarily efficient strong reliable and takes the bumps like a hero but i'm thinking of upgrading to a better fiat class and i also seek a bit more comfort.

All the old fiats and new ones in egypt are super reliable but there was an issue back in 1997 with the old fiat service center as it only services the old fiats only tempra and going older.
but now the new one services just about any fiat excluding the imports.
