Punto (Mk2/2b) my punto sporting

Introduction

thought i would upload some pictures of my car at this early stage of my project.
So far i've fitted an OMP racing backbox (ybracing.com), GSR induction kit (GSR), Carzone rear bumper (Ebay), Abarth roof spoiler (also Ebay),colour coded mirrors and a few cosmetic bits like door sills, aerials, tax discs holder and airfresher (halfords)! lol, also current doing a bit of sound proofing of the boot and under back seats using left over recording studio acoustic boards, see how it works out they were free after all! :)

got planned ... bit of mesh for rear bumper (awaiting delivery... still), need to fit colour coded handles (already painted), tint rear windows (£130 pssc tinting peterborough), abarth front bumper, toyo tr-1 tyres (coming soon - black circles), strut brace front, lowered springs (can't decide which ones on a £200 - 300 budget, probably G-max or PI), finish off with a nice GSR remap and supersprint manifold in around a year or 2, once gained extra cash and Insurance NCB lol.

I have managed to find an Abarth handbrake, gear surround and pedals, had a fun time fitting the gear surround but it's all done now :) I'm really pleased, replaced the whole handbrake worked better than cutting off the handle. All I have to do now is fit the pedals, I will upload some pics later.

Also went into ice- direct in Peterborough to talk over my plans to upgrade the sound system so that's for the summer I think. Also planning on remap and still looking for an Abarth bumper think it will look better than my carzone one (plus it will fit better as it bolt on at the bottom aswell the carzone one doesn't :))theres one on eBay but it's in Plymouth :( its only £35

Yeah could do only thing is the bloke said theres two minor cracks that can be easily fixed but without seeing it I cant really judge if that's the case, plus it's the wrong colour which isn't a huge deal as I would probably respray it anyway. But cheers for the link mate, there is a replica one in a shop near my nan's reckon I could get it for £65-70 it's brand new if it well made and not flimsy crap I might get it, it looks identical :)

ABARTH HANDBRAKE AND GEAR SURROUND FITTED. Pedals still to fit think they will have to be a garage job as i need to drill 7mm into the accelerator and tap the hole to allow the two bolts to screw into it, plus i need a right angle drill attachment and 7mm HSS Titanium drill bit to ensure i can drill both hole. so looking at around £30-40 worth of tools and a lot of hassle over garage's labour price (£40 quid mark). so much easier to get a garage to do it lmao.
also got some abarth car mats cost £44 which is a lot but cheapest i found them so im happy, looked in halfords at car mats some are £50-60plus

my future plans are basically find a rear abarth bumper, then im doing some work to the audio with a little sound proofing to reduce road noise and improve audio.

Im also looking at upgrading the front discs and pads, im looking at the EBC Turbo grooved ones because of the Gold Anodised Zinc Finish, but then im torn between the reddot 20 groove ones :chin: but im on the EBC side mainly because i cant stand the rust marks (think its the OCD lol) but chances are they will get but of rust too.

Then i'm looking a Green stuff pads and painting the calipers (red, i know it common but i think it would be a nice contrast, i like yellow but i feel the yellow caliper would be a little too much imo), and drums (black).

Also looking at getting a strut brace aswell, i agree the car would look better with a 50mm drop but the eibach pro kit springs are really good i love em' but on the downside they are only 25/30mm drop. if i were to drop it lower i would probably go a step up and get coilovers, but i cant really justify doing that at the moment;)

In the near future my MOT is due this month, so im checking common MOT type bits and going to change air filter and pop some comma petrol magic in to ensure emissions are ok. But it should pass fine anyway TBH (TOUCH WOOD :D)

so no uber-mods or anything crazy lol but im lovely the turbo munkul, but i really wouldnt know where to begin (and i think my student loan, overtime and savings would go very very fast lol) but man i would be so cool.

It passed its MOT, easy.

but i had to adjust the handbrake a little as they gave me and advisory for it which i did this weekend.

got fed up of waiting for an abarth rear bumper so ordered a replica one looks identical and has the fixings at the bottom so it wont wobble like my carzone one. It said best offers lol so i offered £60 as it is brand new and was listed for £75 thats 20% right and they accepted ;) so im happy i saved £15

hopefully its as good in the flesh as it is in the pics lot of good feedback on them will let your guys know and should have it painted and fitted by may lol

I ordered a replica abarth bumper after around a year of losing ebay bids and being to late to get one it arrived and it was in a word ... crap.

So I decided to bite the bullet and accept defeat lol so spent £295 on one from shop4parts lol mad i know but if you want one that bad may aswell buy one new lol

i'll upload pictures once painted, aiming to pop down to the Modified nationals aswell hoping to get my abarth pedals fitted to if possible.

I did a little photoshop job at removing the boot badges to see what it would look like, i think im going to keep the sporting badge and remove the fiat and punto badges.

I had a go at doing the bonnet debadge in photoshop it looks cool, but my photoshop skills are crap lol. Im planning on having the front bumper resprayed so i may get the bonnet smoothed then at the same time.

Instead of blurring the colour across, use the selctor tool to draw a small square around the badge, move the selction to an area that has the same colour and reflection, copy from there, paste it to a new layer, and move that new layer (will just be a small square of colour) over the badge.

Blends a lot nicer (y)

As for the bumper, looks spot on.

As far as debadging goes, I'd colour code the front one (see mine in my thread, link in sig) leave just the sporting badge on the back and de-wiper the rear.

Or you could use the clone stamp tool. Works really well for me!

that badge looks cool, how did you do that? have you done a guide or could you pm me a how to please(y)

I have debadged the FIAT badge at the rear and as I expected the colour difference is really obvious, but im assured it will blend in after a couple of months cinquepunto told me his did, if that blends ok after T-cut, sun exposure etc then i will do the punto badge once its blended. Im not De-wipering as i do use me rear wiper a bit tbh. I might look at getting the front resprayed as its not a very good job tbh, dont think he used lacquer and if he did its crap, so im taking it to the guy that did the rear he only charged £50 plus £15 for 1/4 litre of paint, bargain eh:D

oh and cheers for the photoshop tips

future plans,
>Brakes - Green stuff pads and Brembo Slotted Sport Discs
>Front Strut Brace
>I.C.E

lowered the exhaust back box a little by playing with a few exhaust hangers just to get it a little further away from my new abarth bumper:)

debadged the FIAT badge as it was faded and crap, the four squares of un-faded paint are still noticeable a week on after t-cut, polish, wax, colour wax, paint restorer, i've tried everything lol:mad:. letting the sun do it's magic lol then wash it again later this week and do a proper clay, SRP, Collinite wax etc. My dad got a new Karcher Power washer i want to be the first to play with it lol

Oh, i also got some new Carbon fibre digit number plates nothing fancy just legal plain GB Plates with the Carbon digits nice and clean looking:cool: also thought i would buy a set of the cheap flat blades off ebay only £6ish incl. p&p so i thought i would give them a go, first impressions clean just as good as my old valeo flat blades, look exactly same but better as there is no annoying change sticker yay!lol
