Punto (Mk2/2b) My First Car named Eleanor.

Introduction

My Build Thread

Hey guys i was half way threw 18 when I got my first car. I chose a Fiat Punto 1.2 16V Sporting over a Saxo (y). Cutting a LONG story short i had numerous troubles trying to get this car,Colour,Sporting,6 Speed gear box etc etc. First time on Auto Trader lady was veyr nice was going down to see her on the Saturday. Phoned her up again on the Saturday to let her know In was going down with my dad just after lunch "ohh... im sorry to tell you I sold the car last night" me -> :bang:. So after a other 4weeks waiting a other sporting appear :slayer:. This time was in a car lot so bound to get it. Problem was though it was 400miles away. But my dad said we would travel as I was  about the last time. So phoned the garage up atleast 4 times on the way down. Got there at 4:30. I began looking around for my punto.......... "thats funny i can see a fiat Punto??" So spoke to the manager guy. "Hi im looking for a fiat Punto MK2 Sporting in grey?" "Oh sorry m8 i sold the car at around 4:00. that Point I nearly punched the guy. The guy i was on the phone with had finish his shift at 3:30 and didnt tell his boss we were coming down!! so basically we drove 400miles for a bag of chips. Like the film Gone In 60 Seconds trying to get the GT500 somthing ALWAYS happens.

Three weeks later!. Phoned a guy in Auto Trader and told him i was coming down in the morning. I explained to him the trouble i went threw and he said he would keep the car for me. Picked the car up from the guy I had this face the whole way home -> :D.

THE MODS!!!!!! :slayer:
Believe it or not I already had a picture in myhead exactly how i wanted it too look. Gave me things to think about while trying to get the car. Im studying AutoMotive Refinishing at College. Which is panel beating and spraying. Following that course will be doing a busines course. So i knew i was allowed to work on my car for free/ GET PAID FOR IT :D LOL!.

Few pictures of the car when I bought it paid £1500
Car came with
4 New TOYO T1 ties
Full new Exhasut
12months Road Tax
12Months MOT
New Brake and Brake pads
around 65k on the clock

After a week of getting use to the car. Time to get the picture in my head onto the car. I began working smoothing out the front bumper. P40 was used to fill the bumper with Bodyfiller and Top Stop applied to finish off. I hacked sawed out the front bumper struts to create a giant mouth.

After around 2 weeks I began on the audio Full vibe install, Flip out DVD player hooked up to the PS2 little bit of Need For speed during lunch ;). Then i was told by my GF and parents to calm down on the spending LOL. so did FOR like a WEEK!. Blue footwell Neon gave the car a nice look during the night. Set of AutoGuage guages filled the A-Piller

I had a wee break from modding due to college exams and extra shifts at work (n). But wait...Extra shifts?? More MONEY to spend on the car!! :slayer:. Decide the stupid arial! had to go :D smoothed that off. On the way hoime from college a BMW went past me and i seen its black roof. My brain then clicked :D BLACK ROOF!!. I bought the vinyl of ebay at £60 and got a local guy to fit the vinyl for me.
How the car is looking at the current time

New alloys will be arriving soon. The auto Guage piller pods are away now though shown in the above pic. Also recently bought a HGT center console. So you can probs guess where the guages are going ;).

Comments and suggestions are all welcome
Bottom section where the two subs are is now fully wrapped. Ive done one side where the amps are mounted. Got a bit late and dark so decided to call it a night. Starting fresh tomorrow. Finish wrapping the other amp enclosure. Put everything back in the boot again and wire it all back up. Only part which is missing is the part behind the seat still. All in all its getting there atleast. I have been thinking of smoothing of the side repeaters from the wings. Before i get lots of posts about failing MOT. Im considering getting a 2nd pair of standard punto wing mirrors and mounting side repeaters from a other car. Such as BMW,AUDI,VW etc. Would look smart. Alot of work for somthing small lol.

Thoughts?

yes
ive got lots of led's in orange from ebay china to do this just havent got round to it yes so beat me with a car copy
i was thinking of spelling fiat with mine:)

your car looks really nice by the way

I mannaged to wrap the other amp side in the morning on sunday before I headed out about lunchtime. All three pieces fitted back into the boot perfectly. Wired up the two led strips to the boot light at the same time. I still have to finish of the part behind the seats. But here is a sneak peak.
Sorry for the low quality photos was taken on my mobile last night

Seriously dude, that looks amazing!! I think it looks better than the first design you made for your boot too ^^ Are those panels as easy to remove to get access to the spare wheel as they were in the first design?

Great job!

Yup the whole section where the subs are lifts out. I have mounted the Vibe snap connections on the back of the box so all you need to do is lift out the centre box. Push down on the clips back to release the sub cables. Full boot access to sparewheel + the tray that goes in the middle of the spare wheel

Awesome looking car mate!
Doesn't all the panel sprays cost you an absolute bomb?
I'd like to respray but I could see it costing a good grand or so. :(

Also did you spray the dashboard black yourself? if you did how didn't you lose the texture? :D

Hey there. Nope i didnt spray the dashboard black. My punto came with the dash black as standard. My car is the 16v sporting. Think its the 8v that come with the grey/black? Quote me if im wrong though

Hi, I have an question about that rings in angel eyes. I have the same, but at daylight they are "weak". I almost can't see them ligting. At night they are fine.

When I look at your picture I would say that is very bright. Did you changed LED in rings maybe?

Thanks.

Btw, great bad look

Hi there nope i have not changed the leds. Might just be the lighting when the photo was taken making them look brighter. I was planning buying a other set stripping them and converting the Rings to Hid Rings.

Not much of a update at the moment. Well that's a lie. I've got a special item to go into my punto but cant share what it is until its done. Lets just say it will match something also in my interior.

My car after I detailed it at a local car meet at Mercedes Benz Body shop.

Ive done alot to the exterior and interior of my car but I have not really touched my engine bay apart from the usual mechanical changes. So ive decided to start detailing the bay. I have started off with the fuse box cover. People who own a Mk2 Punto may notice I have shaved off the emboss lettering and filled in the circle whole in the centre. Again trying to have everything clean and simple with little touches make it different.

Well ive managed to do it. Fit a Alfa Romeo stearing wheel to my punto to match my alfa Seats. Airbag and horn all work and no airbag light on the dash which is a result!. Threads lined up perfect and all the connections were plug and play.
Here is a quick photo from my mobile
