Im waiting for my 1.2 Lounge to arrive, had extras such as chrome mirrors and electric sunroof. Will my car come with mats though?

You can get a perfectly good set at Halfords for about £25. Their type 1 advanced carpet mats are an excellent fit & wear well

My Dealer gave me the car mats without me even asking for them. When i took delivery of the car they were in it. It depends on your dealer! Give him a call and check.

It can sometimes depend on how desperate they are to get rid of the car.:D

I bought some high quality 'Cannon' mats from a discontinued line that were half price at €40 but end up changing them back to the 'thin' Fiat 500 mats to save 5kg in weight. Aside from the 'sad' weight saving  I liked the 500 logo and italian flag label attached to it. The mats IMHO were worth it. :)

Speaking about matts the one on the drivers side is completely ruined after 1 year and all the rest are in perfect condition. I will ask the dealer when i service it to see if they can hook me up with one but i think they come in sets?

Tbh I'd go for a good quality rubber mat. I've got some Michelin mats in the car and after 6 months they're showing virtually no wear. Carpet mats are always going to wear out, a good quality rubber mat will last almost the lifetime of the car

I recommend one of those smaller type mats on the driver side in addition - I used the same one in my last car for years - it started getting very tatty and some holes appeared but the main mats underneath were still in good condition :)

Having a mat to protect the mat is rather silly though.

I know people here seem to like their carpet mats, but try a good set of rubber mats like this -> http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/produc...helin_all_weather_rubber_4_piece_mat_set.html and you'll never go back.

I had a large McDonalds coke make a successful bid for freedom during some cornering which in hindsight was rather silly with a drink in the holder. Long story short the mat caught every little drop of coke and I just hosed it down and it was clean again. You'd have a very sticky carpet mat after that....... plus unlike carpet mats they don't really seem to wear all that much.

We got ours from Argos

Having a smaller mat is just silly anyway, you run the risk of it getting up behind the pedals, plus it can limit pedal travel.

I'm not a fan of loose mats - there's too much danger of them moving, bunching up under the pedals and causing a serious jam, which in the worst case could leave you unable to operate the controls.

The Halfords carpet mats I mentioned are double skinned on the driver's side and will last for years. I've got them in both my 500 and my Panda. One nice bonus with these mats is that they're just the right size to wedge under the lower plastic trim panels, which holds them securely in place without having to make holes in the carpet.

Many years ago I borrowed a girlfriend's car, tried to brake, felt something stopping the pedal, and despite pressing down like Goliath, had to dive for the gutter to avoid a collision & ended up kerbing the nearside wheel. Further investigation revealed a shoe to be firmly wedged in the mechanism, one of about a dozen such items apparently distributed at random in the footwells & under the seats. Strangely the lady concerned seemed more concerned about the state of her footwear than the state of her alloys:confused::confused::confused:.

(Ha Ha just seen that Maxi has got there first !)

Your story was better though :D

Worst I had was the clutch pedal catching the top edge of the mat and then when I let the clutch out, it pulled the mat with it!

I take it the relationship didn't last long? I once dated a girl a little like that, she was stunningly gorgeous but stuff like that just got on my nerves and I knew that I couldn't stand it so I dumped her.
