Technical Mtech discs

Has anyone fitted Mtech discs and pads as the prices seem very reasonable? My car is a Twinair . Thanks.

I've no personal experience, but a trawl of the usual review sites would suggest these discs are rubbish and best avoided.

If you want decent quality discs at a reasonable price, try Pagid - generally available from ECP. I've had excellent results with these on multiple occasions and can recommend them from experience. They come with an anti corrosive coating which simplifies fitting (no need to degrease) and keeps them looking decent for a bit longer than usual, though the non-contact surfaces will still rust after a year or two.

Another vote for Pagid, with matched pads, have used them on my last few cars and been impressed.

Not used Mtech, but seem a cheap way of getting the drilled/slotted or dimpled disks, have heard some horror stories about them too.

Two weeks before I had all the trouble with my Panda I fitted new Bosch Discs and pads (Mintex) for £70. The discs were coated and looked good quality.
Only did about 450 miles on them though.

Pagid, Mintex and Textar are all TMD Brake products, who are the worlds largest brake friction manufacturer and tend to be either OE standards or actually OE parts.
They've also added Bendix to their fold recently and supply a lot of manufacturers under that brand.

I've used Pagid for a while and found them really good quality, though Eurocarparts are starting to ask still money for them these days, even with their discount codes.
I threw a set on our old Lounge before we passed it on to the mother in law a few years ago and they still look tidy and have worn really well.

I've got coated Textar disc set and pads on the shelf to go on a car and they look identical to the coated Pagid discs. Unsurprising really as they come out of the same factories.
Got them from Aceparts_uk on Ebay.

Eicher got a bad rep a few years ago, they are TMD's budget brand but they have moved production to Scotland (old Mintex factory I believe) and they now seem better quality.

I always think if you have to ask about the quality of a product like brakes, they aren't the one's for you!

It's also worth noting a lot of Ebay sellers tend to list brakes sets rather cunningly.
"Brembo Brake Pads and Discs" doesn't always mean Brembo pads and Brembo discs, but can mean Brembo Brake pads and any old discs.

The snag with TMD is they bought Eurofriction in Hurlford just outside Kilmarnock where I live and then promptly shut them, typical Germans, look at MG Rover.
So sadly there is little choice and we are stuck with them.
A good number of people lost their jobs here after the buyout.

I recently fitted Ferodo front pads and discs to my daily, they are coated, look like a quality product, I purchased them some time ago at a bargain price, now I’m still running them in and this is very important. No matter which make you fit, you have to bed them in, I think at an educated guess, this is where some are failing to do. Just my thoughts.

As for Mtech discs, I have them on my Coupe front and rear, no problems what’s so ever. I opted for the slotted and holes, purely for the visual factor more then anything else, although they do stop my Coupe pretty damn quick on spirited journeys.

Eh up,

For what it’s worth I’m doing mine now, got Pagid discs and pads. Used em before on my 320d and perform fine.:D

All coated discs too which I’ve been wanting for ages.

Ordered from carparts4less , same company as Eurocarparts with same part numbers. But for a Yorkshireman saved a £50.00 for exactly same stuff. £135 all in. (y)

HTH

Pagid get my vote - I've used this brand for several different cars and they've all been excellent, so hence my confidence and trust with them.

Think I got my last set through Halfrauds (including Halfrauds trade discount card they were pretty reasonably priced as I recall)
