General Mot in the morning...

Was a bit fed up with the whole MOT panda thing yesterday as AlanM called me to say that Mojo was making terrible noises too but we soon worked out that it was a sticky caliper and not that the gearbox was falling out as my hubby suggested:bang:
(Never marry a drama queen....)

......the dealers are going to set the emissions, so all should be right with the world next week (y)

Mainly cause I'm getting a free punto out of them for the next few days till the 500 turns up cause we're a bit short of motors at 'Castle Magill' at the moment, hehe!:D

I would say it's probably the air filter that needs changing.

When I set her up in October the emissions were well within MOT limits. If you do adjust the mixture screw mark it up so you can turn it back later if you want to.

If it's the lower ball joint, it is easy. Pop the hub off & unbolt the carrier and take it to a garage and get them to press a new one in then just bolt it back up. It's a slightly awkward pressing because of the angle the carrier bends in at. But it's no big problem. You could always paint the carrier as well. Stuff like that always impresses the MOT testers. Rob, lovely to hear from you. I've been meaning to email you about loads of stuff like that web site and the floating panda stuff but I've been up to my eyes trying to be a media whore with the 500 and this new fetish for going to the gym has taken over as my new winter obsession (rather than fiddling with little fiats I watch naked men in the communal showers... Don't ask!)

I did pop a new air filter & plugs in just before the MOT and changed the filter housing as you'd said and I've not been getting the carb icing since which was a great bit of info that I'd never of worked out.

I think I'll leave Stu to fiddle with my lower ball joint as it would interrupt on my gym time.... (that and he's free, Sylvia worships Uncle Stu!:worship:)

Right, I'm away to get my new tattoo and be generally fabulous....

Well, Stewart and I picked up Sylvia from Meryvn Stewarts today so she's running sweet now after a wee tune up. Suppose that's the worst thing about purely mechanical cars, they're always going to need a constant human intervention to keep them on tune. The service guy this morning said 'Thats your car reset now Mr Magill' and I looked at him and said 'You know it's not a laptop?' lol! Think he seen my point:eek:
Stu is off now to get that custom exhaust and ball joint fitted and I'm going to book the MOT again...

Here's hoping!

Sounds like you'll be fine. Have you ever found out why Sylvia hates exhausts? The amount of times I've read "we were going here and she thought it'd be fun to launch a large metallic poo into oncoming traffic"... ;)

We're getting the Mot this sat at 12.10 so the ball joints fitted (ta stu!) and the carbs nicely tuned and she's running smooth as silk!

What could possibly go wrong.... (???)

Excellent news... Hopefully Foxy will pass his MoT too. He's just away to the MoT centre.
