Can't see how a mod to the cam cover is going to prevent surge under heavy cornering -- most of the racing ones use a dry sump kit: yours for a 3 figure sum...........

more of a surge of oil out the breather, increasing the pressure of the engine...

its done because if you intend to use you "engine" on track, when cornering hard oil goes up the breather pipe, if it doesnt clear quickly it can preassurise the crankcase and cause fatal damage..

Taken from one of the above sites incase your too lazy to click the link haha...

On the XE the cam cover has a L shape sheet of metal lining it with a gap above, the gap above is connected to the breather pipes the bit the other side is the gap covering the cam shafts, the oil is suposed to drip out back to the cam shafts with just vapour burning in the engine, but when the engine is a bit more worn the oil fills up inside between the layers, and can cause problems when changing direction with oil being able to slop inside ,surging into the breather pipes
so you take the cam cover off, and unbolt the inside bit, drill some holes in it , its not particularly critical were youdrill, i drilled all over 1cm wide holes, then you clean off the metal bits and wash the bits bolt it back together
the oil can now drip back into the cam cover and doesnt fil up and go down the breathers,
If the engines particularly bad the other mod is to block the larger cam cover tube so it doesnt go to the inlet manifold and add a catch tank on the smaller tube, with a breather filter on the end ( or if your like me stuff a long piece of tube on the smaller tube of the cam cover and poke it under the car wheel arch with a cable tie, blowing its oily mist on the floor....

SBD MOTORSPORT>..
When the XE engine is used in front-wheel drive applications it's common to see the cars puffing smoke during hard cornering on circuit use. this looks worrying and can cause problems, as Steve explains. "There's a breather pipe coming out the front of the block which allows pressures between the top and bottom of the engine to be equalised. Sometimes on track use under heavy cornering the oil goes up that pipe and into the cam cover and it can't get out. This can detonate the engine where the oil mixes with the fuel in the cylinder head, but there's an easy modification to the baffle so that it dumps the oil back in again and cures the problem."

This was a well known fault at Vauxhall, and although they never fixed it on the c20xe, they made the same design fault with the later ecotec cam cover, when pulling up to a stop even with the clutch in, because of the build up in crank case pressure, the engine used to kangaroo and stall, a recall was done at the fitted a box to the crank breather like this one lol.. looks a bit naff :p

Finally have a seicento!! 2002 with mot & tax :D yay!!! After 155 miles to kent, i was presented with a seicento which once again, was unlike the advert... It needs a new bumper & bonnet.. However the underneath is mint, and it has its own wheel arches haha... The chap knocked £90 off the price, so it only cost £500 :)

The bonnet i can live with, however the bumper is a bit FUBAR.... although, has anyone ever euro'd the sporting bumper (later one like the schumi)? As that may be an option...

Will get some pics up tomorrow...

It only needs the bumper sorting, a wing mirror and also some door seals (the rubber bits)... quite happy for the price to be honest.

Does anyone know the cost of the rubber door seals? There used to be a new pair on ebay @ 14.99 but ive not seen that listing for a while :(

There are some nice Romanian and Italian body kits out there, but looking at the wheels you like, I don't really think they'd fit with your taste! ;)

Haha, seen some of them type bumpers on ebay... Id like to somehow smooth the bumper, but i dont think it would really work with that type... May just repair it with some fibreglass matting and repaint...

Il upload a picture tomorrow, it practically is a scrap panel lol
