Hi all,

I’m looking to retrofit this advertised on eBay Lever Cruise Control Fiat Ducato 250 2006-2012.

My vehicle is a 2008 Ducato 2.2 100 hp, and think it’s designated x250.

I asked the seller if it would fit in reply he said yes BUT it would have to wired into the ECU and they can’t help with that because the x250 isn’t wired for that. So would have to ask an auto electrician.
Has anyone successfully fitted this part and would post instructions please.

Thanks

Dag Allemaal,

Bedankt

I have the same Ducato 250 2.2 MultiJet 100. And I installed the cruise control myself! It's plug and play. The plug connection is to the left of your steering wheel, where the connection for the Cruise control lever is also located!

With kind regards Marc, from the Netherlands.

Hi Kezza,

You are correct in the x250 model designation of your vehicle, but o check just look at just look ant the first three numbers of the VIN. e.g ZFA250.....

I and several other forum members have retrofitted cruise control to the earlier x244 model, where the last section of wiring from behind the LH dash to the steering column had to be added. On the x244 it was also necessary to change the brake pedal switch, and add a connection to a 12V supply. Changing the brake pedal switch was perhaps the hardest part of the job.

If your vehicle is pre-wired to the same extent as Marc's then you you will not have to install any wiring. How does the cruise control attach to the steering column? Again Marc seems to suggest that is a simple matter.

What may be useful is a copy of the appropriate pages from Fiat eLearn for the x250, appropriate to the 2.2 litre engine. The diagram E5060 should help you to confirm that your vehicle is pre-wired. I do not have eLearn for the x250, but page 60 of the x250 Training Manual (from dowloads section) shows that your ECU is A "VISTEON V347/8" which has 3 connectors. The cruise control is shown as connecting to connector B pins H1,H2,H3,H4.

If you wish to go ahead, even if you have to pay for installation, then it may be wise to purchase the control lever while available. Supply could be limited.

There are apparently 3 types of cruise control installations in the x250s and early x290s.

Two pin, three pin or five pin. Some of them include also a speed limiter.

The easiest way to start is to look under the steering column cover to check if we have a plug and which one. If we do, we're lucky, because it will be the easiest way to get a criuse control by just connecting the appropriate lever.

Here's a quite long video in Polish explaining in details every step:

The guy's Ducato is a 2009 3,0 liter diesel, but you can use it as instructions on most of models. Only PINs to connect to the body computer can be different and shall be confirmed. I saw a thread on a german forum explaining the PIN stuff, too. Can't find the link now.

He bought the lever from Fiat Croma, as there are many informations on the internet claiming they are the same. The lever itself is, but the attachment part isn't, it needed something like two hours of labor to adapt to fit the Ducato x250. A Ducato x250 lever will fit plug&play into the housing.

There's another video, also in Polish, but the guy is explaining the idea of retrofitting the cruise control also for another models. There was even an original Fiat schematics, but someone from Stellantis requested to delete it. I hope it will come back in another way.

I think it's also worth watching.

I hope the subtitles + translation will be available on both of the videos. If not, the image will speak for itself in most cases.
