General Leaking Windscreen

General Leaking Windscreen

The vents are a favourite 'rot-spot'.
They feed into a corrugated drainage pipe with a slit 'squeeze-globe' at the end. This rediculous thing gets blocked very easily and nobody ever bothers to squeeze it. Consequently, the pipe fills with water and the rot sets in.
Unscrew and remove the outer air intakes at eacch side of your winndscree and poke about with a screwdriver. I guarantee that you will find your leak. (y)

It may appear a daft question but how much water and when?

If its only when its raining and your driving with the vents open then it maybe the Panda's inbuilt shower option;) The vents are so short and straight that rain water can be thrown onto you while driving.

Hi

Only noticed at the moment when he's stationary and its got to be POURING down, not just a drizzle. ..

Thanks for advice....

Oh dear, yes i had this problem with mine. Its almost definately rust, which means a spot of welding probably. Or fibre glass is my favourite :D
My car used to develop a pool of water in the foot well after heavy rain, which was not incouraging. Its such a weak spot in the design, the drain pipes that are suposed to help, actually give a great little rust spot.

Might be a dumb question though, were these pipes kept in the mk 2 design?

Cheers
Si

Try cleaning the pipes that run from the air vents and on the end they have a cover with a slit in. Remove the cover and clear out the crap and that might help a bit. ( these pipes are in the engine bay usually hanging somewhere)

Cleared ours out and found half a forest growing in them.

Scared to look now!

 Sorry, bare in mind mine is a 21 year old mk1 with metal bought off the mafia! lol, well probably! Yours wont be that bad though. That had got to the stage of huge holes next to the vents that had been badly bridged by my dad with fibre glass!

Hope all is well with yours anyway, let us know what happens....
