Kwik-Fit

Nothing wrong with part worn tyres. Especially when your a student haha.

You can get some really good tyres, some of them are practically brand new with the "hair" still on them.

I was cheeky enough to ask the man where they come from and why he has them, he said most of them are from when business men and company cars get a puncture, they often just say change all of the tyres, and because some of them are still pretty new, they sell them on :p

I know im cheap for buying them, but for the sake of £40 for an entire set of tyres fitted its not that bad at all

I stopped using them this year, after a lot of faffing and too much time in their grubby waiting room the monkey comes back with the keys and job card. I am asked to pay. We put 20 grams on one and 35 on the other, Yeah really, what about the tracking that I asked you to do (I had not asked for balance), oh thats fine ask the manager WTF!!! they have clearly f*cked up and done the wrong job and the monkey does not want to get the earhole bashing he deserves( again an illegal). I just drove out and went to an an independant a bit further away and they tracked the car ( it was out) but told me I was clutz for only having 23 PSI in my front tyres that may be why the steering "felt funny" *and they had put them back to 2.1 bar. I checked with the gauge when I got home and I agreed thay were now 2.1 bar, again WTF! Quckfit had not only done the wrong job but had left the tryres at the wrong pressure, I check mine every week. I called trading standards who went into Quick Fit and checked the gauge, it wa fine so the monkey just blatantly put the wrong pressure in them, on a heavy estate this could be fatal.
Never never ever again.
* he was right, the car did steer differently with low pressures.

Re: Today morning boss...

i just got annoyed with their attitude at kwikfit

i now get exhaust/brake/tyre/mot done at this place they service minibuses - cheap as chips and they do it same day

still trying to find a good local body shop, rolling road, etc.

you got to be careful some will sell tyres that come off cars that have had a side impact, that can make the tyre do all sorts of strange things. my mate has loads of them, to the un trained eye they look perfect, but he wont sell them :nono:

I'm waiting on hearing from the Area Director after discovering (see earlier in this thread) that:
a) they told me a wheel was buckled and needed replaced when it is fine (spent £195 for a new wheel though!)
b) they thought it was buckled because the break wasn't fitted properly, which they didn't notice on any of the 3 occassions they had it.

Emailed them threatening to take it to media/trade bodies/citizen's advice etc and they got back quick-smart, saying it's been passed to the director to contact me asap. I'm currently not holding my breath.

B*stards will never be seeing my motor again. Up here the staff are all local(ish) and I'm tempted to find their houses and kick f*ck out of them, but I'll wait and see what their Director guy says first, but that is currently plan B.

i went on line to kwick fit and printed out a voucher i saved about £20 on two tyres. except for some unknown reasons they put a jack on the plastic cover that covers the Fiat Tipo Brake Compensator Valve and ruined all the brake pipes that join it. " stupid £$%"

Some good news, possibly?

I heard from the regional director, and he wants to meet me at the Kwik-Fit in question to check over my car himself, and he suggested that he might fix some outstanding problems by way of an apology.

I'll keep folks posted....

Update:

Met the area director today, he took the car personally and replaced the brake disc, pads and fitting kit free of charge- which seems to have resolved the problem which I'd originally asked them about, so result there! :D
Funny though, no-one (about half a dozen mechanics later) has even been able to find out what made the brake squeak, but I assume it was a slightly warped disc as everything was new on in September, but changing it over sees to have worked, so far- only time and driving will tell.
Director also apologised for the attitude of the staff and said he'd be having words with the guys who dealt with me each time I was there, "a size 8 in their *rse" was his was of putting it (he's got small feet).
SO, after initially having terrible service I'm just glad the car is fixed and I got an apology- I did buy a wheel I didn't need though, but now I've got a matching spare!
After so much sh*t happening in the recent past this seems like a victory, and I'll take it as such, & the customer services people at Kwik-Fit were great, even if the garage had been terrible at first. Think that's the thing about big companies- they can be so worried about the volume of complaints & their image etc that sometimes they will really have to help if you complain.

The moral of the story? If you get sh*t service take the time to make a proper complaint, might just get something back out of it instead of resenting it forever.

Still, all my work will be done elsewhere in future, wherever possible.

:)

Well, the Stilo is back with Kwik-Fit!

After running ok home, and sitting for a day or two (waiting on a wing mirror arriving) it was clunking when I was braking. Phoned the Director again and he said no bother, ordered up a caliper and said he'd tell them to do it for free, dropped it off yesterday and the manager phoned to say the problem behind it all was a damaged phlange (hee hee... phlange! :p ) so they would now replace the wheel bearing, phlange and caliper (because they'd already ordered one). So it will have an entirely new brake system and bearing- all free- all ordered from Fiat, no europart/copy stuff.
What's more, they have been exceptionally helpful and nice, offering to give me lifts when I need to leave the car and the manager guaranteeing he'll do all the work himself. Think they realised they'd left me with a dangerous car and are now bending over backwards to sort it- which is nice for me because I'd taken the car to half a dozen mechanics and no-one had been able to diagnose the problem, never mind fix it.
The irony is that if the Kwik-Fit guys had bothered to do their jobs propely first of all, I'd have had to pay for all this myself and been gutted about it, and now they have paid for the whole lot!

So, for a change, and probably only due ot exceptional circumstances, kudos to Kwik-Fit! :) :p

no, kudos to you for persisting.

Cheers! Didn't want to be the first to pat my own back, but I'll be the second! Well done me. If anyone else has problems they may as well try the same thing, started with an email sent through the website & ended up with my car fixed & me happy. (y)

kwik fit are a bunch of monkeys!

When one of the manifold to downpipe studs on my car got threaded i took it to them to see if there was anything they could do, the guy said "yes we can sort that no problem, we'll heat it up and put a new stud in there" (i didn't think this was possible)

When i went to pick the car up luckily it was still in the air, and i had a quick look my self to find they had just used a stack of washes to bodge it and tried to charge me £30 for it.

Also after they changed my front shocks (for MOT) i decided to lower my car and put different shocks on, i found that almost every top mount bolt was threaded and just spinning not even tight, and a nut was missing from a strut to hub(i think) bolt.

Pure idiots.

I am replying to this having only read the first page at this point.

Anyway, years ago I owned this 1100cc Fiesta, local Kwik Fit were doing a deal on oil and filter change, it was far cheaper for them to do it at the price, then to source the oil and filter myself, and sort it myself.

So I puts it on the ramp as instructed, go to waiting room. 5 mins later the lad comes over and tells me that my front brake pads are low .... what was he doing looking at them anyway? He then says I would be better to get new brakes on the car, rather than the oil change. He did quote me a price, but I think he got confused with the branch phone number.... I told him to shove it, and vowed never to go to a kwik fit again.

but you do!..

But then a few years later, I saw they were offering a free brake check, I went in with my XR3i and they snapped off the pins inside the locking nut, rendering the key useless, they said they could not repair it, I said "you will.."; I made a call to head office when I got home, 10 mins later the branch were on the phone saying that if I bought a new set from Ford, they would remove the old bolts and refund me, there was nothing evidently wrong with the brakes when I initially went in, but on the way home the master cylinder failed.... !

Then last year, I was with a mate, who had a slow puncture, despite me telling him to avoid kwik fit we drove in and this youngster who was learning, tried to undo the nuts which were moulded into the plastic wheel trim, wrecking the trim in the process, I walked off shaking my head.

amazing, I often hear stories now [and indeed, there will be loads before mine here] about how useless they are at times.

Dont know if they still are but Kwik-fit workers were on a 'work gained' bonus scheme...therefore they 'found' faults on your car.

To be honest I havent been in a kwik-fit garage for............cant remember 16-17 years?
