How do I know if my 1978 Fiat 124 with the 1.8L I4 engine is fuel injected? I have a gasoline vapor filter, is that related to whether or not the engine is fuel injected?

It should be immediately obvious under the bonnet, carb or fuel rail to injectors.

A pic of the engine bay would help

Well not always. Early electronic fuel injection system used single point injection with carburetor type looking bodies and no fuel rails. I can tell but less knowledgeable persons may not be able to.

Yes pictures say a 1000 words.

If the car is fuel injected, which I doubt, then it is most probably a Fiat/Marelli/Weber system. Fiat/they started experimenting with fuel injection in 1972 with details released in 1977. I don't think real use of the system in vehicles started till after 1980.

The 124 Spider didn't get fuel injection (Bosch L Jetronic) until 1981 on the 2 litre engine. Previously all the engines used (1.4 - 2.0 litre) had carburettors.
