General Initial thoughts - Panda 1.1 Active Eco

yeah the boot is a bit of a pain.. when you are dropping someone off and you have to switch off, remove the key and open the boot...

not sure what you mean by the on/off switch on the radio ? you press the volume control in to switch it on, press and hold to switch it off on ours !

have you not been in the boot and forgotten to put the parcel shelf down though?... lol.. set off.. hang on where is the world behind...

I shockingly had a look at the instructions the other day and discovered other little hidden features of the car.. one being the "follow me home headlights" where as you are getting out you can leave the headlights on to light up your walk to the house...(turn ignition off and remove key then simply pull the light stalk as if flashing high beam, one pull leaves the normal dipped beam on for about 30 seconds, you can add more time by pulling a few times)...

you missed one.

No need to select rear wiper for going backwards, if you got the front wipers on, the rear will kick in when reverse is selected (y)

The headlights have a Jekyll and Hyde feature - they go off when the engine isn't running

Great, cannot leave the lights on to drain the battery (y)
Yuck, if the engine dies no lights to be seen by (n)

If you turn them back on after the ignition's off you get the side lights on.
If you then move the indicator stalk you can have the side lights on only one side.

I can't believe how bare it looks under the bonnet! It looks like somebody forgot to fit the coolant tank, but I think we've had this discussion before and it's probably at the front.

This help ? :D

Only if ignition key is turned off ;)

The automatic reverse wiper trick is one of the best features I have ever had on a car. The fact that the radio doesnt turn off automatically with the ignition is annoying. However I think its only the active that suffers from this because higher models have an igniton timing feature on the radio.

I believe its only the case in those with aftermarket fitted HU's

All origional HU's had the time cut off on them iirc.

My Active Eco doesnt have an ignition cut off timer with the OE HU as discussed on a previous post. The only way to switch it off is by doing it manually or by leaving it on for 20 minutes then it shuts down.

Ehhhhh

Same thing isn't it  :p

As was mentioned on a previous post it seems that some Pandas have an ignition timer setting on the menu. So you can adjust if the radio turns off with the ignition or if it stays on for a set time. I cant confirm this as my Active Eco doesnt have that feature and ive never been in another Panda. I can either turn off the ignition and leave the radio turn off by itself after a lenghty 20 minutes or turn it off manually.

Oh right.

I thought that they were all like this

Didn't realise that there was an option so it went off with the ignition.

Come to think of it sisters Panda has after market HU and that goes off with ignition.

Panda's must be wired slightly differently to the majority of Panda's then. I assume that there is some sort of a switched feed going into the Origional HU's then or are they CANBUS operated in relation to ignition switching?

Yours might be a software choice then like you say on the lower spec not having the option there.

That annoys me aswell , and when we unlock the doors we have to turn the key the opposite way than on a normal car (ie to unlock you turn it towards the rear of the car and to lock towards the front of the car ) any one elses do that ?

Whats a normal car  :p

All our Fiats lock and unlock that way. Anti clockwise to unlock. Clockwise to lock (y)

Same on mothers Toyota also iirc.

My Stilo and Puntos have all been clockwise to unlock and anti-clockwise to lock, im confused!

What i meant was any other car. My stilo is clockwise to unlock and anti clockwise to lock, as have been all my preivous cars including fiats cheers Mick

OMG realy
