Hi,

I am trying to understand the Ducato ignition key/system, and if it will imobilise the vehicle if the wrong key is used in the ignition, I know if the wrong key is used the alarm will go off! but does it imobilise the vehicle? I am trying to find this out for insurance purposes as some insurers ask if there is an imobiliser fitted. I have a 2017 Roller Team Autoroller 747. Many thanks Brian.

They key(s) is/are chipped, and the vehicle is programmed to match. The chip is read as soon as the key is turned. If mechanically matching key, with inncorrect chip is inserted, then it will not be recognised, and while the engine will crank, injection will be inhibited. The padlocked car symbol will be displayed.

So in lay mans terms, the engine would not start. Thank you very much.

Hi again, Is the chipped keys/vehicle programming categorised as in a Thatcham 2?
