Advice please.

My Car is due a MOT and i am wondering how much should i be paying for a decent budget set of tyres for my 2003 Punto

165/70R 14 , i may only need 1 or maybe all four , but i guess i will need to replace 2 at a time....

I am not to sure what is considered a good price or even a good budget decent brand

Tread depth needs to be 1.6mm across the centre three quarters throughout the entire circumference of the wheel, with no thread or steel banding visible and no bulges cuts or big cracks

Shop about but I used to get kuhmo tires from a local tire fitter for £35 a corner which are a good centre point between cheap and quality

Thank you , that sounds like great advice , I shall put my local fitters to the test on the prices.

Just one more thing , my car is due its MOT on the 29th of this month.....taking it for mot on the 25th....if they say it needs a couple of new tyres.....and i take it else where to have them fitted , will i then be charged a RE-MOT fee when i take the car back to the MOT place with suitable Tyres, or will they simply look over the tyres and say yeah cool MOT pass

Depends on the garage, some places will only re-test for free if they fix the faults, with a reduced rate on re-tests if fixed elsewhere. Best to check with the garage. have a look at http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk for tyre prices including fitting. I personally use camskill to buy my tyres and get them fitted by a local mobile fitter who I've used a few times, charges £10 a corner to fit, balance and dispose of the old tyres.

Brilliant link , there is a fitting center just 8 miles from me .

Based on the discount for buyer 4 tires....

which would be a good choice , ive picked the cheapest but is it worth spending more ? i dont drive fast , i do very few motoway miles , mostly country lanes and about town.

Westlake SP06 4 for 150 fitted
or
Barum Brillantis 2 4 fitted for 172.36 fitted

Westlake should be cheap – they fail to meet EU noise regs!
Kumho are a FIAT-Chrysler supplier.

Go on eBay, 4 refurb contis for £99 http://www.ebay.com/itm/331022445720?redirect=mobile

I think I'll be buying them for the same of it and replace my rear 2 and have 2 spare

run away from them  can get 1st time use tyres for just a tiny bit more

if i was changing all 4 id prefer to change size slightly for a cheaper one and get some thing like http://www.camskill.co.uk/m4b0s392p...Eff_:_F_Wet_Grip:_B_NoiseClass:_2_Noise:_70dB

Can anyone recommend a Kumho supplier in the Stratford upon avon / Leamington area ?

Stratford Tyres, on Avenue Farm, off the Birmingham Road. They're very busy: so worth ringing them up and booking it in. They are very thorough, too -- which is why all our cars go there to be MOT'd. Otherwise, Exhausts Tyres and Batteries (ETB). Wonderful customer service; but don't know if they do Kumhos.... (y)
