And remember the 1.4 FIRE used in the 100HP Panda was also an option in the 500 from launch until the introduction of the TA engine. There are still a few around, though most will be well used my now.
Im very tempted by a 1.4 500. Maybe I shall start a search and see what there is around.

You could even specify it in the 500 Pop, and clearance issues meant that Fiat gave that model 15" steel wheels, which are also a perfect fit for the 100HP Panda.

before reading this, I do remember Engineering Explained did a video on Hyundai's "ingenious" infinitely variable valve timing. Not sure why it's a world first though (the infinite part?) and I don't know if it made it to production.
